Fast paced matches are few and far between in France. I expect Rene would prepare for a much higher tempo game in England rather than patient but silky counter attacking football you'd expect in Ligue 1.

I've not really heard of him before...

Having been critical of Arsenal in the past, it would be a little hypocritical of me to condone recruiting a French Manager.

    Rafa or Di Matteo please.

I would interview the following, in order of preference:

    Gus Poyet

    Laurent Blanc

    Marcelo Bielsa

    Frank De Boer

    Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Just something i've been wondering...Why do people want Di Matteo? What exactly has he done? Win the CL (with extreme luck) with an amazing squad playing the worst football imaginable, whilst dreadful league form was masked by that win. He is as bad as Pardew.

When will some of you learn? Caretaker managers usually do well, when they get the job, they are useless.

    No thanks!

    Rafa all the way!

No chance in hell freezes not in a million years over.

Don't think I can put this any more clearer than that.

well I've been sitting here wondering what the odds are on wenger leaving arsenal in the summer, pardew getting the boot and wenger taking charge of newcastle? sounds unlikely but I'd be thrilled with that.

Yet you want Rafa? Always spends a fortune. Football is no more than decent. Plays very tactical football, players out of position regularly. Terrible with the press. Extremely pig headed.

Don't get me wrong he is tactically astute and a decent manager. However I can't think of a worse fit for Newcastle. They'll turn on him quickly here in my opinion. The single biggest problem is that his football is functional rather than beautiful. The one common theme I have noted from our fans in their dislike of Pardew is this desire for more attacking modern football. They appear to me to want someone who is bold and brave with selections and subs, something Rafa is very far removed from.

Childish I know, but I love it when Rafa insists on using the word "focus" in interviews. It always comes out as "fok us", eg.
"I am sure they will fok us"'
    "they will fok us hard!"

Why Poyet and Blanc ahead of Bielsa?

With the names on your list, my order based upon how happy their appointment would make me would be:

Bielsa - Sing, shout and dance about
    Blanc - Sing and shout
    De Boer - Sing
    Poyet - Smile
    Solskjaer - Wait and see.

Can't believe the press are behaving this way. Pardew is a laughing stock, he's not in control and what's worse of all is that his opinion of himself dwarfs everybody else's but fact remains he's still your manager under contract. There's no way the press should be making reports like this. It's unfair on the manager. Sports journalism is disgusting at the moment. This story does nothing but make Newcastle look bad. It makes Newcastle look un-loyal and unprofessional which is extremely unfair as it's the press making Newcastle look this way, not Newcastle it's self. If I were you lot I wouldn't be discussing pros and cons of a linked manager, I'd be up in arms about further unsavoury press reports from southern pricks trying to make the north-east look bad.

Blanc and Bielsa are brilliant but many are aware of their potential, where as if we were to hire Poyet who's profile is a little more humble and he turned out to be a Maestro like I think he could then our success in bringing in the right man would be more credited. Although the edge that Blanc/Bielsa have is they are more of disciplinarians than the more softer Gustavo Poyet.

I think you're a good poster here and quite knowledgeable but heaven knows your hard on for Dutch football can be a right thorn in my sack.
