We have reportedly accepted a 'modest' bid from Swansea for Junior Hoilett in order to remove him from our wage bill. It's in today's Sun so it must be true...
To the best of my recollection he was a good player and a very good prospect playing in a rubbish Blackburn team last season. Wingers are the most fickle of beasts when it comes to form, but a combination of Hughes and Redknapp and their coaching teams have done something terrible to this boy. Hope he thrives if he goes elsewhere. Typical of us to offload a young one.
He was on record saying he wanted to stay in the Premier League so as he doesn't want to stay good riddance...
Thats exactly why he wasnt in the squad and I assume why Samba wasnt in the squad either unless someone knows of an injury to him.
I seem to remember hearing Samba was out injured with a knee problem, but I could be wrong. Rumour is though that we're not playing to avoid having to pay him more for playing, which seems to make sense.
The reason why i asked is that TF said he was having a meeting last week to discuss his future, then all of a sudden hes not even in the squad. So thats why I thought hes going to leave. Same thing goes for Hoilett and I think we were better for it by dropping the players not giving 100%.
Didn't Hoillet go on a little tour of Europe prior to signing for us, so that he could get as much cash as possible? I don't think it was ever a footballing decision. He's just another one who QPR had to "sell themselves" to. For half the price, we could have bought someone who saw the Rs as a step up in their career, and would have given their all to the cause. Hoillet was being touted as a good signing for the likes of Arsenal over summer, so i'm sure he thinks he's above a championship scrap with us.
Yeah, the only thing is I really hope that doesnt mean we sign Haim, been relegated 4 seasons on the trot. Id rather give one of the youngsters a shot.
Hoilett has been another of our major disappointments. With some of those who've let us down, I'm hopeful that they still will come good (ever the optimist). Hoilett has youth on his side but, for some reason, I'm not confident he would regain the form that made him such an exciting signing. If he wants to play in the Premier League, I wouldn't exert too much effort to keep him and I'd gladly see his departure as a welcome, and much needed, reduction in our wage bill.
Were you on drugs or something...? Haim has always been a mystery to me. How on earth he has played with ManC and Chelsea? Mind you he was as helpless there.
Samba has been tweeting about having treatment, and said this on wednesday: "Samba Christopher ‏@cs4christsamba1 1 May Treatment going well still a way to go,pray for sat to play" So i think his exclusion was an innocent one. Bosingwa and Hoillet though(and perhaps Diakite), were probably out for other reasons.
