Anyone else looking forward to the games against Ipswich next season? And just think all the players that have been accused of not being good enough and only championship players will be great again!
Not counting the chickens one way or the other just yet. 3 points next week (albeit seemingly against the odds) should see us home and dry, even a defeat might not be a disaster if other results go a certain way. A little (or a lot) of help from Stoke and Swansea would cast a slightly different light on our predicament - the bad news is both the teams we need to lose are at home.
There was a stat about Sunderland not winning at home on a Monday for something like 13 games. Also both stoke and Swansea still actually need points to guarantee safety, so they do have something to play for. In theory!
Never said that is what I want, far from it but the fact remains, with the right set of results in our favour over the next week, even a defeat might not be a disaster - we can in theory still loose our last two games and stay up providing Newcastle lose both of theirs with the same goal margin or worse - even if Wigan win the next two. Still too many if's and buts and it is all going down to the final day, just hope we are not part of it
In fact we (SAFC) have never won in the premier league in 17 games on a Monday night! but we had never beaten Moye's everton until Di canio came and we have lost ALL our last home games of the season since we went up, but our record against Stoke is great. Even Fulham could go down, this is going to be like the bottom of the championship in two weeks time.
I agree that going to Man City to get a result is a hellish situation, but QPR nearly managed it last season, and that was when Man City could still win the title. Arguably if QPR had shown more discipline and not heard the other results, they could have won that game.
