He's doing it well though. Lowton off will unsettle Villa, and I could well see Bennett getting a second yellow. He pulled back Snodgrass there, so surely he's on his last strike now?
My worry is I can't see Villa being this poor in the second half. Lambert will make changes, Hughton won't. I'd love a goal before half time. And Wigan fecking equalise.
A far better showing. Plenty of movement, passing and going forward - just need to convert this possession in to a goal or two. Villa will let us play our football and try to hit on the break in PL style so we need to be clinical when we get a clear cut chance.
Pretty happy with that first half. Just not quite the final ball. Holty, Ryan Bennett and Johnny Howson all impressing me.
Good first half performance even though we didn't create anything clear cut. Just don't bring on Kamara or Jackson, we need to keep Hoolahan there, this game is made for him.
Hmm, not really sure what to make of that. The way we're playing is significantly better than of late, but we've really not had a clear-cut chance. We've had so much of the ball, yet Villa have arguably had as good, if not better, chances.
No complaints. Trying to pass it through them. Just wish we would maybe shoot or not just rely on high crosses. Sometimes a midfield player coming through for a shot would be a better option than trying to hit Holt. But a decent half and we had plenty of possession.
If Hughton makes any change to Hoolahan's position for at least half an hour of the second half, he'll have completely lost me. Pilkington almost seems to be playing as a second striker at times, and I think that's working pretty well. Agree Howson looks better, when he's got time on the ball he's very comfortably keeping the midfield ticking over.
Possession wears teams down, we need to stick with how we are, unless Lambert changes it. The only thing I would like to see is the wingers being played with them running in diagonally to get the ball.
