I would like to see Harry sort our club out so that we are not in the mess we are now. May take a couple of years, and then give Gareth Ainsworth the helm to carry us forward.
The thing is, if Harry sorts us out and gets us back up he'll want to have at least one season with HIS team in the Premier League to show he hasn't lost it. I don't see Gazza being able to walk into a Premier League side as boss, perhaps as an understudy, but if we establish in the PL I'm sure we'll look for a big name (God help us)...
We'd need a complete clear out for Gazza to be boss, the blood sucking, egotistical mercenaries would not have sufficient respect for him. A part of me would actually love to get shot of the lot of them, have Gazza and maybe Derry take us forwards with either Tel or Gerry as Director of Football. We could then re-build a proper club, re-find our true identity and re-gain our soul.
Sorry Roller, agree with the format but not the personnel. Derry and Gazza are great men, but they can only aspire to what they have grown up through and always known - we would regain our soul and identity, but as a Championship/League 1 club in perpetuity. If Gerry is satisfied with a coaching spot at Stoke, he has clearly put his feet up. Tel would be ideal in any circumstances. Where do we get the younger/ less famous versions of Laudrup, Mourinho, AVB - people with a vision and attitude. As DT says, I suspect its France (or Germany). Perhaps, on reflection, Championship/League 1 is where this club really belongs.........no, thats just too depressing to contemplate. In the words of Ron Phillips (a few of us still remember) in 1969 "We shall return" (stolen of course from General MacArthur, as he fled from the Philippines).
Am the only person who does not rate or want GA as our boss..? never achieved anything and although he gave his all..not really any good a a player. Why do we wqnt him? because he has abnd that are very s**t? Not a great fan personally and don't see what he offers us. Just my op of course!
I know mate, but I'm so disillusioned with nothing being right. There is so little I can identify with in W12 at the moment, as you said shortly after the kick off for the Stoke match, you felt completely detached from what was happening on the pitch. I would take issue with your assertion that Derry or Gazza could only aspire to what they have grown up through and always known. Neither Sir Alex Ferguson nor Jose Mourinho were top, top players, they seem to be doing ok. Is is not the case that more of the world's top managers were not the best players?
The thing is you never know how good a manager any player could be until they actually do the job. Our club is currently such a 'nest of vipers' you'd have to put your money on a proven 'man-manager' to have the nous of sifting the crud out of the club. This summer will show us what the real Harry Redknapp can do - his players with a full pre-season to bed them in. I sincerely believe Harry knew within the first week at Loftus Road what a bunch of c*nts he'd inherited, he couldn't say so and that's where all the 'I know we can stay up' tosh came from. The next few weeks will show us just how ruthless Harry can be, his reputation is riding on it. We're no place for a novice at present...
