As DAWN APPROACH the 1st classic of the flat racing season is upon us. 1m of pure speed, as quick as a TORONADO Horses that compete in this, their talents out this word more at home on MARS. As GLORY AWAITS the winner they will start thier voyage through the classic journey like CRISTOFORO COLUMBO did when he found america. But as we get to the big race will the race unfold like a perfect picture painted by Eglon VAN DER NEER for the favourite or will he lose and the trainer end up telling the channel 4 CORRESPONDANT Claire Balding DONT BOTHER ME as he makes his way back across the irish sea via GARSWOOD but if he does loose he will be wanting to go further away somewhere more like GEORGE VANCOUVER.

15.00 Uttoxeter - Harry Hunt (no price yet)

Another horse i have abit of inside info- they hold him in very high regard, was disappointing lto at the festival but he didnt have his usual jockey on board which owners and trainer wernt very happy about. Today he has a jockey very much in form in the case of Wayne Hutchison. Was very classy over hurdles and has seemed to carry this form to chasing, this is a step down in class for him and he should take all the beating tomorrow

A few bits and pieces to get up early, but I will have a closer look tomorrow, What's really nice is I know that every single year the Guineas comes around the mind will wander back to frankel's success in the race and how he set a new benchmark for just what is possible.

Although unlikely to be a new Frankel tomorrow I am optimistically hopeful that we may have a decent crop of three years olds, unlike last year which must have been the worst for a long while. Dawn Approach, Toranado, Moohajim and even Garswood look to have a chance, I don't think I will have a bet as the competition is too great for the prices available but I think and hope Toranado wins.

    Bets for tomorrow
    Newmarket
    2.05 Memory Cloth 20-1 EW

I think this is a great bet at the price. The race is without doubt open but this horse came second in this race last year beaten less than a length whilst 5 lengths clear of the third. He ran off 90 then and is now still only 93. The race last year was without doubt stronger with many of those behind rated well into the hundreds now, of those behind him last year were Fury, Fatsota, Dick Doughtwhylie, Dandana all who would most likely be favourite were they entered in this race tomorrow. Memory Cloth would like a bit of cut however which must be taken into account but at 20-1 it's a definite each way value bet.

    Goodwood
    2.20 Coquet 3-1

Class horse in the race, goes well fresh only danger the unexposed Noseda horse.
    2.55 Democrates 7-1
Just went down in third at Windsor recently but at 7-1 looks a decent bet
3.30 Duke of Firenze 9-4 NAP
This is the bet of the day for me as his last run should have brought him on, the ground will be better tomorrow and should outclass these, great price.

The 2000 Guineas throws up the usual conundrum of whether the champion 2YO has trained on and retained his advantage over his peers. Whilst Bolger's charge may well go on to become a champion 3YO I see no value in his price of 7/4 (especially when you consider you could've got the same price on Hurricane Fly for the Champion Hurdle on the day). Too many unknowns so I'm looking for a bit of e/w value from a horse with a bit of 3YO form and have plumped for a little e/w dabble on Richard Hannon's Van Der Neer who should see out the mile really well having finished 2nd to Kingsbarns in the Racing Post Trophy. Hopefully William Buick will make plenty of use of him and I can see him doing all his best work at the business end of the race. Small e/w dabble for a bit of fun.

Happy birthday for tomoz Ste :emoticon-0166-cake:

The 2-35 Palace House Stakes at Newmarket is going to be the usual flat out cavalry charge, however I've narrowed it down to about 10 :D

I like Channon's Bungle in the Jungle and Chapple-Hyam's My Propeller, both 16-1/20-1 and both drawn well.

    Have a great day <ok>

2.35 Spirit Quartz 7/1 is an excellent price for anyone having a small flutter before the Guineas.

5.00 Centurius 8/1 is a promising son of New Approach from the Botti yard that impressed me when winning at Nottingham. The form has been franked already and I do not think Windhoek has beaten anything in the sales race here a couple of weeks ago. Centurius will stay the trip well.

In the 2000 Guineas I would play the Dawn Approach/Toronado reverse forecast. I hope to see two very nice horses though.

Dawn aproach/toronado forecasts are just above 4/1 so you're getting 3/1 for the reverse forecast. tempting....

Taking 4/1 in what is a very difficult race isn't usually for me but Sole Power 4/1 2.35 is one of my favourite horses in training and he will love the fast ground, the drier it is the better. I think he will be bang there tomorrow and am very hopeful he will have the class to out sprint these on the ground.
