    I hope we keep him.

I don't think we would get enough by selling him to make it worth while. to even buy someone of similar quality we would need to shell out.

Bennie and Baines.... That'd do me! <magic>

    It's difficult.

    (Thinking like the club here)

    we'd get what... 8mill for him? he's 29. I think that's a 5 mill profit on him too, isn't it?
The club might look to invest that on someone a little younger.

I'd keep him, no question about that. But I see us bringing in a 25-26 year old who maybe costs us £10m.

  6. I have been a big fan of Benny for a while now (as some of you might have noticed!!) and whilst there may be a few better LB's out there - not many as it happens - I think that it is these kind of stories and his general attitude that makes him a bit special. And certainly makes me want him to stick around a while yet.

Unconventional, flamboyant, some would say a risk taker on the pitch, but in all his dealings over 6 years with Spurs he has without exception acted with great loyalty, in the best interests of the club and shown a few others how to use the power, money and influence being a PL player attracts.

It is not always about just what a guy does every week on the pitch - it is stuff like this that really impacts positively on the club and the local community that makes a difference.

He is worth his weight in gold, long may he remain with us and sod the £6m or so that we get cashing in on him!!

Love Benny. Such a legend. Probably the best LB i've seen at Spurs during my time.

I can see Levy cashing in on Benny before his value diminishes too much, if we get a good enough offer he will be sold in my opinion.

Love Benny. The all too rare sensible face of football. He needs a solid run in the side to be back to his best. In my top 2 or 3 players for the past few years. I hope he does what Dawson and Hudd have and makes it hard to even consider getting rid.

From what place have these rumours of BAE (Benny) leaving come from ?.

Without official notice, we should not be perpatrating stories of this kind.

Personally I would hate it, if I were employed to do a job., and was doing that job well only for a rumour to stread about me leaving.

Let try to remember that romours are started for a variety of reasons,. some are designed to cause friction.

Also, 'crying wolf' is never a good idea.

There's been all sorts of reports about him going to France. ITK's seem to suggest he's not favoured by AVB, so we're all just hypothetically preparing for his departure. - much in the same way we have with bale over recent months, who looks now to be staying.

  15. I am with Bajan on this one 100% - cannot see the benefit of propagating rumours about our players, even if they do come from 'ITK's'....

All we're doing is discussing our options if he does. Similar to us discussing options if bale was to leave. - which in the last few days worth of reports, doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

  17. Understand that Roo - but sometimes I wonder whether the 'discussion' of these rumours actually compounds a situation that either doesn't exist or otherwise would be better not given any credence for the greater good. I can never understand the benefit of running the risk of destabilising a player or indeed the team.

I know many will say 'its only a fans forum', but as we well know, rumours do get picked up from here by lazy Journos and before you now it, we have a tabloid or web headline. The players may not read the forums but they sure as hell read the press......

Top guy. Hope he stays, it's players like him that make supporting a club special.

Looking particularly "special" today. Doing his best to show avb why not to keep him

  20. Think you miss the point, King. It's the whole package that makes Benny a bit different.

And in any case, he was by no means the only not to have a sterling game yesterday. The initial formation didn't assist the distribution from the back and it was evident that the contributions of both FB's improved when Adebayor came on (and Dempsey went off!!) and gave the defence a better target. But that's for the match thread....
