Yep good point. Two then. One of which was 9 months ago and both were in 2012. His 2013 form up until the injury was piss-poor.
I would be very surpsied if he did. IMO, the only problem SB has is who plays up front. Cardiff play 4-5-1 so i expect our normal 3 - 5 - 2 formation. We could well need Rosie - Hobbs and Bruce for the last few minutes off the bench as we cling onto a one goal lead.
Wouldn't be surprised if Koren was a last minute inclusion. SB will play his cards close to his chest for this one. Having Hobbs fit is great news - we now have all of our CBs available. Alex Bruce's recovery is a bonus. If by some chance we go 2-0 up later in the game he would be the ideal player to bring off the bench.
BBC Humberside Sport ‏@HumbersideSport #hcafc boss Steve Bruce rates Robert Koren "50/50" for Cardiff game. Gedo definitely out. Alex Bruce fit & Jack Hobbs "a possibility".
From the Cardiff City press conference, it sounds like Craig Bellamy and Matthew Connolly will play no part tomorrow.
Korens far and away the best passer in our entire team, not just technically but mentally, he tries passes that none of our other players would have even thought of. If his passing isn't that good, what does that say about the rest of the squad? We're in trouble then. I know olofinjana's a big pansy, but he's got an accurate pass and good range, I think he could have been very handy in the last 3 games. Shame he was sent out.
Koren hasn't been playing that well, no denying that. Against Watford he was woeful. Worst player on the pitch IMO. He must have known he was having a shocker but kept making himself available to the back three and was still asking for the ball. Did **** all with it apart from give it away but he never shirked his responsibility. Quinn has been just as bad, if not worse than Koren for weeks, no make that months. Against Barnsley none of our midfield showed any bottle and were all looking for someone else to step up to the plate, subsequently none of them did. Meyler and Quinn,in particularly, shirked their responsibilities and just hid, never showing themselves which lead to the centre halves being put under pressure as they literally had no one to pass to. Courage on the pitch doesn't just mean flying into 50/50 challenges, it's just as much about wanting the ball when things are going wrong. With that said I think most of our team have bottled it of late. If you think Koren is **** and offers **** all tell me what Quinn brings to the table? Come 2.30 tomorrow I can almost guarantee every ****er will be moaning about a lack of creativity and consequently a lack of goals. Quinn does a few nice tricks and looks tidy but where is his end product? We will miss Koren tomorrow IMO. Miss him a lot.
Beneath the blusher and the leopard print mini, there's actually a reasoned and balanced football philosopher. I enjoyed reading that I believe that you are right. Well done Daphne. Very well done.
Yes - On Koren - if he could be given an injection and play some part - one pass might make a difference No - On Oli - loses the ball too easily and I don't recall him offering anything like a match-winning pass when he had the chance Yes - On Bruce Jnr - Meyler has been off colour, Bruce Jnr gives us some steel and if Cardiff don't fancy getting stuck in it may swing us the midfield.
I'd take him in midfield given that Quinn has been utter **** the last few games, at least he will give 200percent
I never understood those slating Koren either, found it unbelievable, people who go on about him 'going missing' usually stop complaining when his intelligence has found a goal or piece of magic, without him we look like a one paced plodder of a team. Was disgusted at Swans OTT criticism in the Fail a few weeks ago, utter moron that guy
On Koren, if there is any possibility of him playing I hope we use him. One last big effort, then he can recuperate over the summer. On Bruce jr, since he got injured we have scraped a draw against Ipswich, lost to Wolves and Barnley and drawn with Bristol. Maybe he gives the midfield the defensive steel to allow the likes of Quinn, Meyler etc to attack more and is just what we need?
Quinn is one of our best players. He got players' player for a reason. That's the award that matters because it's voted for by people who know what they're on about rather than us lot who think we do. He might not buy his Sunday paper from the same shop as you, but apart from that he's been better than Koren in every department this season.
