Tony Fernandes does not rule out Mark Hughes for QPR return QPR owner Tony Fernandes has refused to rule out Mark Hughes returning to the club despite sacking him after eight months in charge. Hughes was dismissed after a dismal start to this season that saw QPR pick up just four points from their opening 12 Premier League games. He was replaced by Harry Redknapp but the club have still been relegated after two seasons in the top flight. Watch the full interview with Tony Fernandes on Football Focus, Saturday 4 May, 12:15 BST on BBC One and here on the BBC Sport website.
What!!!!!!!!!!!??? I think Tony would be strung up from a lamp post in Shepherd's Bush if he did that! (Sparky would be hanging form the next one along!!)
No, but we will need a bloke with a spade to take up the old pitch. I can see it now. Hughes arrives - Old pitch comes up - New pitch goes down - Hughes is reported as "missing". In October The Sun reports the mystery of the 6' x 2' patch near the centre circle where grass will not grow, birds will not land and 6 players have turned their ankles. If we miss this opportunity in the summer then we could wait for the pouring of the foundations of a new stadium.
Can't see it happening, but he may well have something to offer as a coach. Frankly, as long as he's not in charge of picking the league or signing players, I'm not bothered.
I suspect this is to do with fact that he is still being paid by QPR?? Is that true or was he paid off? If still on payroll then logic dictates that may as well use him as coach of some sort. However, were that to happen, I think would end in tears all round!
If we are really still paying him...surely we could bring him back to relay the pitch...saves on labour costs.
If he ever enters our club again I'll pay for Sylvester Stalone or Antonio Banderas to come out of retirement and take that shot!! PS...bonus point..name that film? Think bank..in the sun..!
Correct; TF said in a recent interview that he was still being paid his contract monthly by the club. Presumably there is a job description in there; could be worth looking at to cobble together some deeply unpleasant task which creatively falls just inside the parameters of said description??!!
That's only because he's still employed by the club. So if worse comes to worse he could be called in I suppose.
