I am, have always been and will continue to be a big fan of Skuussseee, I think it's great SOD wants him to stay and will understand but I'll be very sorry if he leaves, he works his nuts off on the field, always prepared to play where the manager wants him to and never lets the club down on or off the field. Bristol born and bred... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22383151
No no no. We need to get rid of all these old players now. Skuse doesn't offer a lot just runs around the pitch and puts in 1 or 2 tackles. Kelly is the new and much better skuse. Carey Fontaine Nyatanga Skuse Elliott Stead We need a fresh start
Sorry Shiny but i still feel that Skuse is our best centre midfielder but under SOD he hasnt been playing at his peak as SOD has changed his natural game. And i have said before which i know isnt popular but i still dont rate Kelly as highly as everyone else does and still think Reid could have been a better player in the team and use that money they spent on Kelly on a new defender. Even recently SOD has played Kelly on the right of midfield to let Elliott and Killkenny play in the midfield so shows that SOD rates other midfielders above him as u play ur best players in their position which is why millen learnt it with skuse that he had him at right back but put him back in centre midfield and we started winning games I would say id keep Skuse because he is one player who actually cares for the club but i do feel that the club needs to let 90%+ players leave and start a fresh and if Kelly is that good as everyone says and im wrong then he will be off in the summer to a bigger club and not playing league one football but so far its midfielders like Skuse and Elliott being linked to other championship clubs
Skuse to injury prone and I agree with shiny about his ability trying to think when Kelly last played on the right kelly is our version of lucas levia
Agree. on his day he has one of the best midfielders in the league but I also agree that he has had one too many injuries recently (but who hasnt at our club) and dont think his style suits SOD's style of football so if he leaves under the right manager he will be a god send / bargin
Prolific midfielder Skuse.. 0 goals 0 assists this season ..9 goals in 300 odd appearances.. in his whole career.. Love to know what he offers to the team, apart from being a `bristolian` who supports spurs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkFFYN6DR64 Take a look at Blackburns 3rd goal.. The best midfielder in the league doing a fantastic job of tracking back..
It is always sad when local players leave their home city club for greener pastures elsewhere. Normally I'd be pleading with Cole Skuse to stay at City. And others like John Stead and some of those who are still contracted for next season but who may not be willing to accept a 50% pay reduction and the indignity of League One football. But I genuinely believe that we all need a fresh start; the players who have been through three years of relegation battles will only be refreshed and remotivated by a new club and the City supporters who have come to mistrust some of the players committment to OUR CLUB, need to find new heroes to replace those that they consider are tainted with failure. Yes, I know how difficult it will be for SO'D and his coaching team, to fashion a new City squad that needs to be immediately successful but it's not impossible. My real fear is that if the old guard remains, we will go sliding down the League One table bringing yet another relegation battle. And one that nobody connected with Bristol City wants yet one a downward spiral that we may not be able to halt. It's time at City to look to the future and say "The King is dead; Long live the King"
LAN that video does indeed show Skuse tracking back and also clearly shows the defence backing off too far, making skuse commit to a side by side tackle on the edge of our area, Fontaine should have stepped up and closed off that run. it shows how inept our defence really is.. Skuse was done a little bit for pace but not by much, that whole video tells another story about our central defence..
ive seen plenty of times skuse just leaving his runner and ive seen it plenty of times result in a goal. If he wasn't from Bristol everyone would treat him differently but because he is from Bristol his tag hides him from quite a bit of abuse. He doesn't offer us ANYTHING. I don't know what sort of midfielder he is. He isn't a tough tackling sit in front of the defence midfielder like cisse. He isn't a creative midfielder he isn't a box to box midfielder and he isn't a midfielder who will score you goals. All he does is make 1 or 2 good tackles and it makes all the happy clappers go mad. He's an average player and at 27 going on 28 we need to say good bye and he needs to find a new challenge. If he was that good someone would of bought him by now. In stead he has been part of a team getting worse and worse and he is just as responsible for it. We need a new fresh squad. So I hope he does go to a championship side. He has ran his time here now.
We should not keep players that have failed us. This is the exact mentality that got us in this mess. If other clubs are interested then great! ALL the dead wood should be moved on, and SOD should get to build his own team. Skuse is a good player, but he's had his time with us and he should move on.
Skuse can go as far as I'm concerned. Our midfield in general has been a weak point for too long. If we can keep a few core players like Heaton, Cunningham, Davies etc and refresh the rest of the team, we'll be a lot better off in the long run
Yeah the defence is and always will be the problem, but where's the protection from a midfielder who is meant to protect the back four?? Considering he doesn't assist, he doesn't score goals that's his job right?? As Shiny said just because he's Bristolian he avoids abuse, he's less influential than Stephen pearson, who at least has 3 assists and a few goals this season
'but where's the protection from a midfielder who is meant to protect the back four??' Kilkenny ? Kelly ? Anderson ? If you think there are better midfielders in the City team at tracking back than Skuse then you need help. If you have to pick an instance of not tracking back have a look at Kelly for Bolton's first the other week. And check how many clubs come in this summer for the 3 I've mentioned. Skuse isn't a world beater but he's far in front of the players we'll be left with in August.
It's going to come down to money. i suspect that Skuse will want more money than we are prepared to pay. We have to spend our money/wages carefully - the ones who get "top dollar" have to be the ones that influence the result of games - I like Skuse, but don't think he does
