I know nothing about cycling and don't intend to learn, but I know quite a few on here are experts and I enjoy reading the threads. So I've set one up, after seeing that Cavendish won the first stage in Naples (potholed route I would imagine). Also may tempt Imaz out of hibernation. Oops, sorry, misread the BBC article (scared of being bullied if I lingered too long). Cavendish is 'hoping' to win the first stage. As, I should imagine, is every other rider.
Hehe! Am lying low until things are sorted out. The definitive stage and route guide. Pretty self explanatory even if in Italian: http://www.gazzetta.it/Giroditalia/2013/it/ Cancel that, English available: http://www.gazzetta.it/Giroditalia/2013/en/
SB a cycling thread will always drag me & Imaz out from hiding I was enjoying a nice pint of unicorn in the Britains Protection in Manchester and just clocked this thread Going to be an interesting race
Excellent article in today's Times about the attention to detail and planning by Sky to get Wiggo every little advantage in the Giro, it should be a cracker but I fancy Nibali will take some stopping...
After the deal of Wiggins for the Giro and Froome for the Tour being gone back on by Wiggins can't see either being positive for him (results wise that is). The knives will be out as soon as the occasion presents itself. Too many have been bullied, allegedly. All your latest doping rumours available as always: http://forum.cyclingnews.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20
SB you've picked up on the wiggins / froome aggro this week? That's because sky said wiggins would go for the giro this year and froome would be rewarded for supporting wiggins on last years Tour de France by being the front man on it this year. Now it appears wiggins wants to be the first man since Pantani in '98 to win the giro & tour in the same year - in effect breaking his word to froome who really should have won the tour last year Expect bad blood intrigue and years. Cav was effectively forced out of sky and froome has suggested similar Wiggins might find going head to head with froome might be his undoing Btw Imaz did you see the tour de romandie? That last couple of days looked hard
Haven't had any time recently as am having to move soon due to landlord having passed away. Will miss RAI as new house hasn't got a dish for HotBird satellite, bad timing. Watched the Tour of Flanders and the Roubaix and that's been all this year. Probably the disaster that has overcome Rangers has put me off sport right now. Btw, TF has a massive nerve to blame NW who had just 4 days to sign players.
Yes mate, saw Wiggins all over the news announcing his aim, and even I know enough to have thought that it didn't sound right, given what Froome had done for him. I suspect Wiggo is a nasty piece of work, but I have huge respect for anyone who can physically put themselves through these Tours, doped up or not. Thread is having the desired effect, nice.
The Eritreans whose national sport is cycling are coming and some think this guy possibly could be the first to breakthrough, only 22 or 23 years old and second overall plus the main mountain finish at the Tour of Turkey:
You don't get to the top in any sport these days by being 'Mr Nice Guy', it will be interesting to see how Brailsford handles this 'civil war' in his team...
Fancied doing it myself this year on my Raleigh Grifter while smoking a pipe but alas I have lost one of my trouser clips ... sorry not about to risk my brushed demin flares for any sort of jersey ... I already have an orange jersey and yellow is so last year
I'm told the Italian tour awards a pink jersey Dave, surely that will tempt you to clip up? Mind the chafing though.

Just looked at the stages - some steep and lonely ones in the Apennines. Plus the Amalfi coast road closed, its a ****ing nightmare at the best of times.........
Froome winning the Tour would be a great result. Unfortunately his main problem is his missus who's got a very short fuse, a dislike of Wiggins and a Twitter account...a lethal combination
Yep Last years minor incursion http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/a...ne-Twitter-spat-Chris-Froomes-girlfriend.html This weeks rocket http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/sport/cycling/article3753297.ece There's only one thing for it......................FIGHT!
Michelle Cound. She is one hell of a ballsy and feisty girl. Great entertainment. She said this the other day...... Michelle Cound ‏@michellecound 30 Apr To those claiming that this Wiggins/Froome thing is some sort of publicity stunt, you are wrong.
They're off. And even I in my ignorance can tell that this stage is set up for a sprint finish. There's a nice little guide in a link from the Times ipad app today.
