With a big transfer window ahead, and Spanish clubs being virtually bankrupt, wouldn't mind betting a few come from there. Wonder if Pochettino would be interested in Benat or Rakitic for example? Might be out of our reach, but with the clubs needing the money, and the players being assured of regular wages, they could be persuaded to join us?

Players from Spain could be a good shout, I'm sure Poch has quite a knowledge of the market and the players available and with the well documented money problems of some Spanish clubs there could be a few bargains to be had!

Me personally, I'd want a CB and RW (AM if Ramirez moves to the right), and maybe a Striker. Astori semms likely to come to Saints so that sees the CB spot sorted, so a good RW or AM would be a position I'd look at. Perotti from Sevilla would be a quality signing, and with their financial woes very public, wouldn't be too much either, and would add some much needed pace and trickery to Saints, something I think we sometimes lack.

Why is everyone so sure that Astori is going to sign, has something changed? Last I heard he fancied AC Milan over us and they were interested, and had a buy back price for him...

If I remember rightly he said he prefered a move to the Prem.

Don't think anybody is that sure, it's just a solid rumour.

Jayrod has certainly started to give us some pace and trickery of late.

First I've heard of a buy-back clause. The reason we were favourites to get him in January is because we offered more money than them. Unless that's changed, we'd have to be seen as favourites still, though I've no doubt he'd prefer a move to Milan given the choice.

A couple of rumours out:

Aaron Martin is being lined up for a move to Coventry on a permanent basis, whilst some guy on SaintsWeb is indicating that Sam Hoskins is going to be released.

Hopefully we can sneak a loan deal for Andros Townsend (or sign him). Spurs are going to be looking to loan him out to a Premier league team I imagine unless they start using him in their own team

Where have you heard this? Besides, he's not that good. For every spectacular goal he scored, he had two or three average games, and we won't give him the freedom he had at QPR.

Not heard anything just thought I'd mention him. Not sure what you're talking about with freedom. He has a very high work rate. I think he'd suit us.

I would have said Puncheon is better than Townsend, if we are going to buy for the right mid position I would imagine they would be better rather than a back up.

That's your opinion. I think Townsend is much better than Puncheon and Ramirez out wide for Pochettino's style.

Just going to add that he's also only 21.

Considering it's not even been reported anywhere, and it's by no means likely Spurs would want to sell him, it's probably not really worth discussing.

Yes it is my opinion that he is no improvement on Puncheon, and there are players out there who would be available that are an improvement. I think we can do better.

I really don't think we should be looking to loan, or buy, players who aren't considered good enough to play in teams at the level we want to be. We need to be looking at better. Its like Sinclair, last year he would have been fantastic but I think we need better now if we are to progress.
