God this is so nerve wracking. I go from being a pessimist to almost optimistic. Like everyone else I think it is really important that we have a good start and don't let in an early goal. I am just worried about the players mentality and whether they can hold it together. Don't want the nerves to get to them like at the Bristol game when they just panicked every time they got the ball and couldn't get rid of it quick enough. I see Phil B is going to be there for TV. All the ex managers etc have been quoted in HDM and the hype surrounding this game is going to be massive. I am very scared. What the hell the team are feeling like I don't know.
Some of the players will. Tommy Smith and Heidar Helgusson are Watford legends - 3 player of the year awards between them. Don Cowie also had a good time at Vicarage Road, as did Jordon Mutch and Andrew Taylor on loan (AT got goal of the season I think). Just saying. And I believe (may be wrong) that there is some bad blood with Fraizer Campbell and Hull?
It's more a case of bad blood between Hull City and Fraizer Campbell, rather than the other way round.
Some fans hate him, because they see him as a mercenary whose turned us down three times now & opted for more money. Realistically, he's chose well. Campbell going to Spurs from United wasn't his fault, it was part of the Berbatov deal. Also, he finished 10th with Sunderland when we got relegated and he's got promoted while we're looking like we're bottling it. He's not a City fan, so owes us nothing & has no ties to the club anyway, and everyone wants a decent job that offers more money than you're already on.
Personally, I don't hate him for that reason at all, I just think he showed himself to be a complete arsehole at the game at the Stadium of Light. Exactly as Marney did recently at the KC.
I think you may find that most of those ex-Watford players won't be on the park just so there is no chance of Cardiff being accused of p=throwing the game. Cowie is no longer first choice. Helgusson is unlikely to start, and Smith may be replaced by a young lad who hasn't got a game all season and whispers are he will get to be at the final curtain. there is expectation that Campbell still won't be fit but Maynard is and again the whisper is he will get a run-out. so I think all in all, the Watford connection is clutching at straws for both hull and Watford. alky would never put himself in line to have fingers pointed, his is far to professional.
We have not been bad for 2 months. 2 weeks yes. The last 3 games have been the big issue in us getting over the line. What will be will be BUT its upto Hull City now. Do they want the PL bad enough. ?? Again what will be will be. Its only football ffs. It will be disappointing if we foook ti up but thats the championship for you. On monday at the OSC night they were calm and relaxed. Well up for it. On saturday they get the chance to prove this to the world. FC is not that good. If he was then he would still be at Sunderland. He is a championship player at best. It will be interesting to see who plays for Cardiff that for sure. Looking at the weekend marks they got against Bolton 7 of them only had a 5. Reports suggest it was an end of season performance.
I'd like to know who the muppet was who awarded those marks. Don't think he was at the match. But that's in the past. All that matters now is this last game. Hope you go up either on Saturday or through the dreaded play offs.
Everything that managers and players say come right out of the cliché machine - what else could MM say? Footy managers and players are hardly the most educated of people and their words are dull and predictable (with rare honourable exceptions).
There is one theme that most fans of the involved clubs seem to have overlooked here. How many of Cardiff's players can be really confident of a starting place next season? How many of Cardiff's semi-regulars can be really confident of even getting a look-in? (and if they don't, will they get regular football on the same sort of money?) MM has said ever since they clinched promotion that he more or less knew his team for this weekend, which suggests to me that on paper he will be putting out a slightly weakened team, but the eleven he selects will be the ones he thinks will be really up for it. I'm not saying that will necessarily work in our favour though. Firstly, if he is resting players who know they will start in the Premier League, then by definition he is resting Premier League players. Secondly, if three or four of Cardiff's players walk onto the pitch on Saturday more interested in putting on individual displays for the cameras than being part of a winning team, then our hopes of clinching second will probably be gone by 1pm.
Good luck on Saturday. You deserve to go up, and so do we. Unfortunately Cardiff have got more points than either of us. My only hope is that, no matter what the results on Saturday, there are no controversial goals, disallowed goals, or sending-offs. I also hope that nerves don't get to either side. It has been a grand old tussle with you lot and I hope that we can push you to the final whistle. God, I'm using a lot of cliches My worry for you is your likelihood of winning the play-offs should you need to. I think we have a better chance in those, but I'd rather not find out. Hopefully I will be able to watch both games simultaneously.
