[h=2]Kennedy: Players deserve huge praise[/h]JOHN Kennedy believes Celtic´s Under-20 players deserve enormous credit for winning the SFA Youth Cup for the fourth successive year. The young Hoops overcame a spirited Dunfermline side 3-1 at Hampden to clinch the trophy, with all the goals coming in the second half.

Jamie Lindsay broke the deadlock shortly after the interval before Bahrudin Atajic added a second from Mikey Miller´s cross.

Although Allan Smith reduced arrears for the Pars, substitute Denny Johnstone struck late in the game to seal a deserved triumph for Kennedy and Stevie Frail´s young guns. There were memorable scenes following the final whistle as the players collected the cup and celebrated on the pitch in front of a sizable Celtic support.

And Kennedy was anxious that their achievements shouldn’t be overlooked, stressing the amount of tough obstacles the youngsters had negotiated on the way to securing the silverware. Speaking exclusively to the official website, he said: "I´m delighted for them and I just want them to get the credit they deserve as sometimes people overlook it because it´s Celtic.

"Credit to Dunfermline as they came tonight and done really well. The circumstances they are under are difficult but their players showed great character and commitment to their club and they made it difficult for us. "We were delighted we managed to perform in the second half and go on to win the game. But we don´t want it to be the case that Celtic have won a Youth Cup and move on.

"The players deserve credit for it, especially the run they have had to get here and the teams they have had to overcome. It says a lot about the character of the players and their ability. "People might turn around and say that Celtic should win but that´s not the case at all," he added.

"We went to Hearts early in the season and that was one of our toughest games, and then we went to Hibernian and won in extra time which was an even harder game. "After that, we had Aberdeen and Kilmarnock at home, so it was a difficult run to get here.

"Tonight, in the first half, we found ourselves under pressure but in the second half we showed our quality and what we are all about. Some of the players stepped up and showed their ability and we scored some great goals. "We are delighted for them, as obviously we wanted to win the cup, but we also wanted the guys to show what they are about and perform, and we saw that in the second half."

Having sealed the title last week against Inverness Caley Thistle, tonight´s victory meant the youths had won the double for the fourth year running. It´s an extraordinary feat, and Kennedy felt it highlighted the great work undertaken at every level of the Celtic Youth Academy.

"It´s great for everybody," said the coach. "That´s four years in a row that the club have won the double and for everyone, from the junior academy all the way up, it´s a big night as it shows the quality we have and are developing. "There is quality coming through every year as sometimes you get a good group of players who go and win the double and it falls away for a few years.

"But it just seems that the academy is continuing to produce quality players and people work hard at the club to do that. "Having won the double four years in a row, hopefully people recognise that – recognise that we have really good players here."

Will be interesting to see if any of them manage to make the step up. Think we've only had the likes of Watt and McGeouch over the last few years. Really need to start producing 1 home grown player a year.

I already would like to spend more time than I have playing FIFA and first person shooters - FM on the laptop would mean divorce for me, man.

The last football manager game I played was on the Amiga - I think it was called Premiership Manager - all the ones that came after that seemed to be complete life-stealers.

    A great game.

The best game on the Amiga was Canon Fodder - properly unique, innovative and just massively playable. You'd play it over and over again.

    Brilliant game.

Monkey Island 2 just had too many discs to switch about and fart aboot wi'.

I abandoned it after a while - I reckon the steam version might be worthwhile.

You can get Sensi on XBLA if you have a 360. Trial is free but the game is only about 800 microsoft points or something. Still a pure joy to play <ok>

    One or two.

In the updated version, there's a blatant rip off of the "youz buy the pies" speech by Big Buckie Bomber
