We have seen countless of fantastic balls from Scholes and the amount of times we heard the commentator saying " what a fantastic ball from Scholes" many times. He seriously is the best passer of the ball I've seen in this league. His passes can split defenses up, that's how good his passes is. I know its countless of fantastic balls from Scholes but what is your best Scholes pass? for me is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0RNL1-zWsng his third last pass against Arsenal is just world class, he was off balance and he still managed to get it perfect on Rooney's feet. I remember watching that game and hwn he made that pass i was in shock, what a pass, that pass was just out of this world. What a player. Micheal Carrick did take a leaf out of Scholes's book which is great because now Carrick also does fantastic Scholes type passes.
Thought that was Carrick PS...I'm biased, I'd say Xabi Alonso as he could hit a pin point pass with either foot and didn't need to look up to know where his team mate was either. Incredible player and I'd love him back
as much as Carrick is now one of the best passers in the league, i still say Scholes is the best. Some of his pass was unbelievable,he rarely does give the ball away and also what i love about him, in many tight area;s, when he;s under pressure from many players, he still manages to keep calm and find a pass to his team mate. i diss agree, i think Scholes is the best this league has seen but i admit Alonso is one of the beat passers in the world, he's very underrated in the spain national team, everyone, the pundits praises Xavi or Iniesta, Alonso hardly gets any credits. i know you lot will love him back because even though you got Gerrard who is one of the best, your midfield is never the same as them times where Alonso was in your mid.
When Alonso left, Liverpool when down the hill, but Scholes just edges it for me for the passing game.
Scholes and Alonso were very different imo. Alonso was better at picking up the ball in defence and finding a teammate in a good position to start an attack. Scholes was better at getting the ball in an advanced position and finding the pass that would crack the opponent's defence open. Scholes edges it for me, not based on passing but on his movement on and off the ball, his vision in unlocking the defence and his goal scoring. Also as Scholes got older he moved back into the Alonso role and started playing more balls out of defence, whereas I've never seen Alonso play in a particularly advanced position or carry a major goal threat.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/nov/11/xabi-alonso-spain-england-interview "I don't think tackling is a quality," he says. "It is a recurso, something you have to resort to, not a characteristic of your game." Ergo Scholes > Alonso
I don't know about him, but I try to make as little sense as possible. Coutinho is better than Scholes
As passers go he is up with best ever, and defo the best Old Trafford has ever seen. But he was so much more than just that, his finishing was superb ( I was at St James park when he got his Hatrick he destroyed Newcastle by himself), his cracker against Bradford, great aerial ability for a little fella, all round just a Ginger Pocket Genius, if the sod could of tackled he would of been the greatest player ever Zidane,Figo,Xavi describe him as the best midfielder they ever played against, not much higher praise than that! I know one thing that if I could have any player back to their peak at this time it would be him, we miss that danger, last minute runs into the box, thunderous shots into the top corner. If he does retire then what he can bring to the youth in our academies could be priceless.
He's a classy player. Never really saw him at his best. By the time I was properly interested in football - around 7 years ago, age 12, I wasn't old enough to appreciate that sort of talent. But he still hasn't learned to tackle.
