I've been for tea at the Ritz a couple of times and would highly recomend it. I thought i'd still be hungry afterwards but with the amount of sandwiches, cakes, scones and nibbles that get brought out i left there stuffed. Not that expensive either. Its nice beforehand to have a glass or two of champagne in the Ritz bar but beware at £21 a glass of moet, you can spend a lot of dosh very quickly (As i found out ). Also i've had a few people recomend the OXO tower for lunch/dinner, great food and good value so i've heard.
My Hubbie is a computer programmer too Roller. This is what we did for our 30 wedding anniversary...new matching wedding rings (his no longer fitted...porky sausie fingers!!!.) It was lovely and romantic, the chosing, the waiting, the going out to dinner with the girls and giving each other the rings over dinner, in the presence of the girls ...BUT 2 days later he took his matching ring off to wash his hands and lost it....we thought forever.....BOY WAS THERE TROUBLE!!!! about 4 months later it turned up in the washing machine, rubbery bit! He hasn't worn it since (just in case!!!)
Trip to Venice....even better if you can go on a cruise that includes an overnight stay there...to sail into venice and glide past all those landmarks with you looking down at them from a few hundred feet with the sun warming your face is something else.....
What's her main passion? If it's painting, get her classes, and best of all, go with her? If it's chocolate, go on a chocolate making course together? Take an interest in her main passion, get her classes/a trip, and do it with her; never fails.
So it is an even bigger disaster waiting to happen than I first realised..... It sounds lovely, but I've just got the weekend and with no possibility of sneaking off early. Her main passion is Chelsea, I don't see a future as Rollercoaster Blue. I'm not sure you're helping much Andy
I'm grateful to everyone for their suggestions, even Watford and Andy. If I'm not on here in July, I picked the wrong option..... Cheers
Roller, just glancing atthe thread title, my initial reaction was "trade her in for a newer model"!! But What ever you do, I hope you both have a good one
Roller try this: I am doing this end of this month for Mrs DT Gatwick - Lyon ... overnight hotel great city. Lyon - Ajaccio Corsica. Hire Car, tour the coast clockwise for five days before getting to Bastia. Fly Bastia to Toulouse overnight stay before returning to Gatwick ... all on easy jet and for only 160 quid each, 200 for a car in Corisica and 7 overnighters from booking . com ... 600 quid max for the best place on the planet ... don't tell anyone else ... Travel light? get a couple of Crumpler Light Delight Weekender bags ... sorted
Weekend in Munich with Allianz Arena tour and concert / theater / countryside and beergarden(s). She might like it.
I've still got over a month to go mate, but I'm working on Beth's suggestion of going somewhere that means something to us (bearing in mind that we only have the weekend), plus I've organised dinner with her extended family. The timing is difficult, as the nearest weekend to her birthday is also the weekend of the school fete which we will both be heavily involved in. There is no point trying to go out that Saturday night, we will both be too knackered, so I'm looking at one of those Sunday afternoon teas that the ladyfolk seem to enjoy once she has emerged on the Sunday. Once her school has broken up we may do something a touch more exotic.
