OT- Who is your favourite Actor or Actress?

Was having a debate in the bar last night with a French lad about the best actor of all time. He was adamant Brando was the man.
Me however... I chose Richard Burton..... simply for uttering the words 'broadsword calling daanny boy' in 'Where Easgles Dare'.
I think in the modern Era Anthony Hopkins is the guy who sets the standard.

Has to be Oliver Reed. Sets the standards for all actors. A proper legend.

Sir John Mills was a very versatile actor, I think he'd be somewhere near the top in a list of all time actors.

Quite like Edward Norton. Brilliant in fight club and American history X, but i guess if you're looking for one of the best of my generation (mid 30's) then Hopkins is probably a fare shout along with Di Niro and Pacino.

Tricky to really answer that question in a way cos I immediately think of the films that I grew up watching and still take enjoyment from now so on that basis I have a few :-

Couldn't really give you my favourite actress. Helen Mirren I guess would probably be up there, but I can't get past a list that does not consist of birds that I would almost certainly smash the living daylight out of given the chance:-

....and I have a bit of a weird thing for Andie Macdowell and Helen Hunt.

All pretty crap actresses in all fairness but you kinda forget all that it when you're staring at their arse and tits ?

I was fortunate to go on a school trip to Stratford was back when the rocks were still cooling (mid seventies) and I saw Mirren play Lady MacBeth and I still remember that performance almost forty years on.


Hopkins and Burton had great diction. I would listen to either reading Under Milk Wood which, as far as I am concerned is what audio books were made for. And, yes, I would listen to Hopkins read the phone directory.

Favourite actresses; Mirren and Meryl Streep are the top two. But I am a great fan of Penelope Cruz, Kristin Scott Thomas and Juliette Binoche
