    just one comment here.

I do another coaching merry go round if it meant carlo anchelotti or some such turned up. The fact is hating rodgers should only be done based on his mistakes not FSG's blundering about. Like i said its FSG who flip flop and are seriously in question.

Sorry to butt in, i only do it because this always seems a poor excuse to me. Surely you only sell to buy better and improve the team/squad, if you sell to buy and don`t make an improvement then it is just a waste of money and a disruption of the squad.

  4. You could say that but then you could also say that the first team and squad wasn't good enough and Rafa aspired to winning the league and therefore, he felt the need to try and improve it. There is not much point in selling one of the poor players as you wouldn't get a great deal of money for them so how do you improve a squad with no money without selling a valuable asset?

Thats what i am saying, you only sell one of your best players to get better or there is no point.

  6. Okay, I'll put it another way. If you have a world class CM but a poor winger you have a choice, do you stick with it knowing teams will focus on your weak link, or do you sell both so that you can buy two quality players eliminating said weak link? Whether you end up with quality players or not is the risk, if its a success then you have a better team as a result, if it fails you look silly. Stick with the original team and you remain unbalanced. A team is only as good as its weakest link.

No, you try to identify a better winger that is available at a reasonable price (it is done by good managers and scouts) you would not sell your quality CM. Buying any player is a risk so you minimize this by only changing the player you don`t want.

    i agree.

quality is too hard to get and all buys are risks.

  9. You can't buy a player at a reasonable price if you have nothing to spend, you can only get free transfers and we all know how they turn out.

For the record, I agree about not selling your star man. But then, I don't think Rafa ever tried to sell one of our top performers anyway. He tried to sell Alonso the year before when he had just had a poor season. IMO, it gave Xabi the kick up the arse he needed to get a quality season out of him at that time, unfortunately it also pushed him out the door too.

again i think the reasons behind alonso were due to injury... or fat frank fouling him like the cheating **** he is. I think rafa looked at the injuries not the talent... cos lets face it gareth barry!!!!

I don't think back then we had such a problem... it was borrowed money but rafa kept trying to do an awful lot. the frees were a bit silly IMO most of them a daft lad like me could see were awful. but rafa got his one big buy a year, maschernao 17mil, keane, 19.5mil, aquilani 20mil. ok the 34mil for alosno or thereabouts has to offset that but frankly I thought rafa liked a deal more than haing a strategy.

i think right now there's plenty of ability out there without going and buying allen for 15mil or buying assiadi for 3 either.

i have to put one point across to people. would you rather a team of allens or a team of gerrards.... ignore the obvious talent gap and just look at physique. a player like martinez for example is tall, gerrard is 6ft+ allen is a midget. I hope we stop buying midgets soon. snow white needs some for here panto and we can't afford ours to go missing all christmas!!!

I think rodgers bought sturridge for ability and size, i am hopeful he knows what he's got in the side and what he's not got and will look for tall athletic players who can pass it.... bayern prove its possible to get them..

Coutinho and stelring are more than enough small men with talent for one team. we need to build the physicality now.
