Let's say we make it to the top 4 and then past the qualifier, what serious chjabce have we of winning it, or even getting past the last 16? If we missed out on top 4, would we have a better chance of winning teh Europa league? Would you rather win that, than wimper out of the CL like we have for the last 3 years. Even the semi in 2009 was an anti-climax where peopel started leaving the Emirates at half time agianst United. We may be good enough to get top 4, but we are not good enough to challenge in CL.
If we aren't good enough then Barcelona sure aren't. We went out by an odd goal to Bayern Munich, and they got humped 7-0.
Might as well try and get relegated next season, so that we have a decent pop at the championship eh ?
Only go for the Europa League if we're in the competition, but hell no, never take the Europa over the Champions League.
Of course we do!! - What sort of ****ing fans are you guys?!! We are a better team than the Liverpool or Porto teams (arguably Chelsea too) who have WON the competition in recent years. Add 2-3 Quality signings to this squad and we could be serious contenders.
How about we do a Chelsea and go out of the CL after the group stages and go on a decent run in the Eurodisney Cup, which Chelsea could even end up winning this year. That would give the op his chance and still mean we have the draw to attract better players, but personally I would prefer to go as far as we can in the better competition.
