So folks it's the quarter finals now and I'm very surprised by the amount of big names falling by the wayside but not surprised that new faces are coming through. So here's how I see things for the rest of the tournament.

Ding Junhui (Chn) v Barry Hawkins. Ding to win a competitive match 13-9.

Shaun Murphy v Judd Trump This one will be close I think, Shaun can win it but I give the nod to Judd - just. Judd to win 13-11 or 13-12.

Ronnie O'Sullivan v Stuart Bingham Ronnie will walk it I'm afraid - a 13-7 thrashing.

Ricky Walden v Michael White (Wal) I think it'll be tight too. White to win 13-11.

    Semis

Ronnie v Judd - I think the winner of this semi will win the whole thing. I can see this being tight - Ronnie has shown that he can win and despite not playing for a year almost, he is fresh. However Judd won't be a pushover. If Ronnie has his A game and Judd is a bit off, this will be a comfortable win or Ronnie. But I can't see it being a thrashing, in fact I think it'll be close and I think both players are playing fine. I think that Judd will sneak this one - just. Judd to win 17-15 or 17-16.

Ding v White - I think this one might be tighter than people think - OK Ding is the favourite to win and I think he will but it'll be just by the odd frame or two. Ding to win 17-15.

Final Ding v Judd - I think this will be a good final and again think it'll be tight but Judd to win it 18-16.

If Ronnie does get to the final and he faces Ding it will be a convincing win for Ronnie - he will win 18-8.

    Thoughts?

Well, I was surprised by Ding losing by a 13-7 thrashing. Am also surprised that three of the quarters were thrashings, 13-7, 13-6 but maybe not Ronnie's 13-4. I think my semi predictions will be close though. I think Judd if he plays well win win 17-15 or 17-16 (unless Ronnie plays his A game and Judd not so, in which case it'll be a convincing 17-11 win. The other semi I think will definitely be close as both Ricky and Barry are playing well. I think it'll go 17-15 or 17-16 either way.

As for the final, I hope for a close final and I think that it may be so unless Ronnie gets through and is playing lights-out snooker - if this happens it'll be a one-sided final and maybe won with a session to spare as the players in the bottom half of the draw have never been to a World final. I hope I'm proved wrong though.

Well... well... Ronnie over the three days played better and deserved a place in the final, but surprised that the match wasn't closer - 17-11 is a rather convincing win. I think the second semi will be closer though, I think the score will be anywhere from 17-14 to 17-16 either way, but right now I'd slightly favour Barry Hawkins.

As for the final I think it's a foregone conclusion - Ronnie wins it but what score will he win it by? (depending on who he plays). I personally doubt it will go to a fourth session as frankly the other two semi-finalists have played in a poor match, only just ignited by Barry's better play this morning.

Thoughts on what the score in the final will be? I think 18-5.
