serves em right, the alarm bells should have been ringing when the chavs beat em , then celtic , lazy players.....totally one dimensional play , counter that and they are screwed... the end of the era of tippy tappy football ?
I know the pressure was off, but our 0-2 win against Bayern showed what we are capable off when our team is firing on all cylinders. They are now the best club side in Europe and have set the bar for everybody else
Tactical organisation. We have not lost since that Spurs game. And after the game we had a ten day break to get our **** together and we FINALLY worked on something and got our defensive shape when we did not have the ball.
Agreed. Firstly he manages this Barca side when they were good, and now he gets to manage Bayern Munich, another side which won't need a manager next season, because how good they are.
It's great to see them getting comprehensively thrashed. It's poetic justice in a way. Barca would always pull out the dirty tricks when they were losing. They were always afraid to lose.
Expect Barca were not very good when Pep took over. In Rijkaard's final season, they finished in third place (behind Real Madrid and Villereal). They had all sorts of problems off the field with players like Deco,Ronaldinho and Eto'o ****ing about. They were all over the place.
Barca should have a clear out after this game, they owe us a favour or two, so they should sell us Fabregas, Villa, Thiago on the cheap. They can keep Alex Song
He inherited a squad of incredible players nonetheless. He's never had to build the core part of a squad. Booting off a couple of problem players from a squad chock-full of world stars to get them back on track isn't that impressive to be honest. And now he gets to inherit a squad that is practically flawless.
If Bayern go and win everything next year, Pep will get the credit, when the credit should really be going to Heynckes, the guy who built this team.
Yes he did. The core part of the Barca SIDE under Rijkaard was not the same one as under Pep. That team was built around Ronaldinho. The likes of Iniesta and Messi might have been supremely talented player,Pep played a massive part in their development. Also, he brought Pique from Man Utd, and put the trust back into the Barca's youth system by bringing in players like Busquets and Pedro. Also compare the way they pressed under his management to the way they press these days.
