Play the guys who are going to be the basis of next years team. I believe hes already started that by dropping Cesar. Now drop Bosingwa and any others they want to ship out.
While I understand people saying start looking at play for next year, I also don't want to finish bottom. Small amount of pride and beating Reading with next year in mind may help a little in the noggins.
No point finishing next to bottom with a team of players who wont be here next season, that will mean nothing. Start rebuilding the pride ASAP and play the players who care.
We should the best team we can put out on the day to win the game, same as any game. This will probably be the closest we can play to the one that will start next season anyway.
Fair point, can't remember the exact difference on prize money but its worth about £800000 which the club might need!
Would I not be right in saying that the higher up the table you finish, the more money you get as a payout? I know we are down, but surely the appeal to TF and the Board of earning a bit more money would encourage a "field the strongest team" mentality? edit: sorry, just seen Ranger74's post! Also, would the "strongest team" also not be the same as the team we want to start with in the Championship? The signs from TF and Arry are that we will be trying to keep hold of our best players...
Do we have a strong team? Imo in the position we are in throwing a few of the fringe players in wouldnt actually weaken us, but give us the chance to actually play better seeing as we have had poor performances from the so called stronger players. Putting in a few youngsters may reduce the 'ability' and experience but they would make up for that in energy and willingness to play well.
After the abuse ive had from Chelsea fans saying good riddance i wouldnt be to disappointed if Arsenal beat us Saturday if it means Chelsea miss out on the Champions league. Id love to see some of our kids and up and coming reserves get a run out but as alluded to we have to pick a team from our 25 man squad which is only fair to other teams.
The compromise is to start with the strongest team - whatever that is - and have those you want to trial on the bench. So, if we are losing 3 nil, or, in the unlikely scenario of winning 3 nil, Harry can them give them a run out. That way we can't be accused of any nonsense.
I don't think it's a realistic scenario to test players - you give the impression it's a training match and get duly despatched. Reasons to play a full strength side (and these should be relayed to the players):- 1) There's 500K awarded per place - TF deserves a few meagre pennies back. 2) The partially restored pride of getting to 30 points for the benefit of fans and players not showing themselves (per the history books) of being the hugs flops they have been. 3) Given the passion evoked when we lost to Citeh, the fans want wins even if it's relatively meaningless (moreso than that game because at least we won a war despite losing the battle). 4) Most importantly for the fans. Those that have cheered us unceasingly despite the ever growing desperation of our situation. Those that have paid for 38 games and lifted the team as much as possible. The players owe you guys a debt.
Bothroyd should play every game, he can be lazy but Dave Jones would never sub him and Harry will if hes not playing well. Most of the teams we played you should beat, I am happy we don`t have to compete with you again thats for sure. Get a lead like you did before and suddenly you will feel a lot better. Let us pray you dont pass us on our way back down and we can both play in the premier the following season. jck
Not too sure. He was scoring for ipswich I think. A championship poacher and we dont have to splash more cash
What 'kids and up and coming reserves?' I can't name any. If they were any good some would have at least featured on the bench by now. Don't kid yourself, there's no goldmine there. Roller and myself were trying to remember the last truly home grown player we had in the first team - Ray Jones we thought. And before that........??? Building here is the most critical thing the club can do. Does any one know what the youth set up is under Harold? Who runs it, who are they accountable to, are they up to the fantastic new facilities they are going to get in 18 months time?
The money surely means we have to try to gain max points these last 3 games. I suspect as well that most of the ageing, past their best, over played players that won't be staying with us, didn't start the last game and may have played their last games for us.
I can see the possibility of this shower going on an unbeaten run now, which would be to f***in late and would make you wonder why could they not have shown any pride (ability) earlier in the season. Players come and go but the fans and their support will always remain. Lets get back up next year.
