    Evening fellow City fans,

Thinking ahead to next season and there has been much debate as to who we should try and keep and who we should get rid.

To my mind, if I were SOD, I would be moving heaven and earth to try and persaude Jon Stead to stay and help us get back up.

Yes I know he is entering his 30s and he doesn't offer much of a goal scoring threat but lets be honest it's not as if any of our other strikers are prolific! What Stead does offer is quality and hard work. It's no coincidence we went on our bad run when he got injured. He leads by example and would be the perfect role model to build a team of youngsters around.

If we are going down the route of introducing our more promising academy players to the first team we need experienced pros they can learn from and there are non better than Jon Stead in my opinion. We need to keep senior players who will instil hard work, quality and passion for the club into these youngsters! What we don't need is lazy ****es who go through the motions and pick up their over inflated pay packets at the end of the month!

I'm in the minority here but I think Stead is hugely overhyped, people seem to mistake effort for ability.. As you've said he's 30, offers no goal threat and is on huge wages but people want to keep him??

Even for a big bloke he doesn't win enough headers, he needs to be the first out of the club with nycalanga, fontaine. pearson and foster

He doesn't score enough goals true, but what he does give is 100% commitment which is something far too many players at the Gate have failed to give over many years if we had a team of players willing to put as much into the game as he does we wouldn't have been relegated this year. His effort and workrate are an example of what we expect from players who wear the shirt.

he gives 100% yes but unless he takes a massive wage cut, In the region of 3k a week then I say we look elsewhere. Its time to move on now.

    Name Games Goals Assists
    Stead 30 5 0
    Baldock 33 10 3
    Davies 38 13 6

I have never said that Stead doesnt work his ass off and it is a joke how many freekicks are given against him when it is usually him who is foul but the stats dont lie, for a player on over £12k a week to score 1 goal every 6 games is poor and no assists so you cant even say he is the emile heskey type of getting assists.

Davies got 1 goal in 3 games which isnt bad going but he had a period of 8 goals in 9 games so that leaves 5 goals in the other 29 games.

I cant see Stead staying as he is on at least £12k and for him to stay he would have to be on no more than £4k. Id rather see him go and use the money saved on the wages to look at buying an out and out goal scorer if SOD isnt going to go with Burns and co

As much as I would love Jon Stead to stay, but to me he does give 100% but unfortunately it don't come to much. If Ryan Taylor could manage to stay fit I think he will become a big player for us in League one.
IMO he will be the better partner for Baldock than Davies and I rate Davies big time apart from Saturday's performance as I felt he played like he wasn't interested.

We should sell Jon Stead now. He's a good forward, but if we don't sell now we'll get nothing for him later on.

Then we ****ed up badly. He won't stay on the cheap so we should cut our losses now.
