Genrally speaking I would never advocate this type of action but I am at a loss as to what I can do to help.

Life for me in general sucks, I say one thing the opposite happens - I flip a coin and it lands on its edge - as a toon for for 33 years (my age) ive seen enough **** to last a lifetime yada yada yada.

Now, I had a dream last night that I put a bet on us to GET relegated. £100 quid which I wouldnt have missed at 13-2.

Now - WE SURVIVED AND I WAS AS HAPPY AS A PIG IN ****. Yes I lost £100 squid but we survived.

    It got me thinking....

I might put £100 quid on us to get relegated. Chances are the way my world works it would mean that rather than get a financial gain of about £600 quid we will survive - which is exactly what I want.

If we did go down then Id be ****ing gutted but have £600 to but next years season ticket.

Kind of a win win situation.

I dont mind losing £100 - in fact I would happily pay God the money to do so.

    So my question is?

    What should I do?

One of my mates has already done this. But at much bigger odds. He predicted this surrender monkey attitude from our players when we signed all the French lads. Like you he'd rather lose (I think he will) but it is a nice insurance to have. Personally not something I would ever consider, I just couldn't do it.

I have to confess to taking 9/1 and putting £10 on at the weekend...so £100 back if we drop.
If we go down at least I'll have my daughters ticket covered.... or a pot of beer money.
I usually lose my bets so I'm praying I lose this one.
I rarely bet against the Toon but I made and exception this time.

The more I think about it the more I think it makes sense. It breaks my heart doing so but I am usually unlucky with these sort of things.

Thus I am hoping I lose my money.

But it is a good insurance policy to have. I will keep singing till the end but if we go down **** me am I gonna go down with cash in my wallet.

Its the weirdest thing I have done been a toon supporter.

Pop into your nearest church and put a fiver in the collection plate with TOON written on the back of it.

God works in mysterious ways so I wouldn't mind betting that he'll make sure we stay up and your overall luck will also change. If that doesn't work and we do go down then obviously you're possessed by the Mackem devil and there's no hope, not even holy water because washing is against their religon.

Not many people know this but the " Excorcist " was actually based on a frighteningly familiar situation as Linda Blair became a Mackem after they won the FA Cup in 1973 and the Mackem devil entered her vunerable, misguided sole. Father Merrin who was a massive Toon fan did his utmost, however the curse of the Mackem was one excorcism too many.

Theres only 1 church I attend and thats ST JAMES PARK.

I have often thought throughout my childhood that as we seemed destined for constant failure that God was a mackem but then realised the dark side.

    I had a thought.

If all 52000 - 3000 away fans put £100 quid on us to go down we could buy Andy Carroll back for the same amount we sold him for.

    £100 x 49000 x 7-1 = £34,300,000

At least those putting the cash down will get a little consolation, couldn't do it myself though.

Then again, with my luck it might just be what we need.

I made a thread about this the other day.

I put 100 quid on it, so I get a grand back if we go down. If we stay up I lose 100 but I don't care because we're safe.

Try this one too - I hate betting against Newcastle but sometimes we're so bad, it's always worth the insurance. I'm betting on a West Ham, Wigan Double at 10/1 - if wigan lose, great - if west ham don't win - great - however, if they both win - £300 and not as bad a relegation almost.

On Betfair Newcastle are 9.2 to go down. I shoved some on at 12.5 earlier last week (see previous posts) and I am planning on laying the relegation later.

I have already laid some of it off at 9s and depending on the results this weekend I may just leave what I have or I may try to 'green out' for an assured profit no matter what the situation is.

So, if you're unhappy with backing Newcastle to drop and if you think that they will get no points this weekend then why not conider backing the drop now and then laying it off on Sunday?

Well from being over 12s last week the price is now just a shade over 6s (5/1 to 11/2) on Betfair.

The price started to drift a little during the week and I was able to scalp a couple of ticks when it moved from 9s to 9.4s. But, as expected the price has come in a lot and given the state of affairs (it's either win at QPR or bust) the price is currently far too high (speaking as a betting man, that is).

I can see the price dropping to somewhere in the fives in the coming week.

Things are looking very poor at the moment.

I'm willing to gamble all of Wigan's premiership points on it. Deal?
