That Phil Beards family are massive Chelsea fans. I was told by someone who has worked for his mum. Not sure if it includes Phil himself or not. I'm not sure what to think now. Should I be annoyed? I just feel indifferent about it really. Anybody else got any thoughts?
Hi. It raises an interesting general point. Who shoud be given key roles in the QPR family? Must all people in key positions be QPR fans through and through? Like most other businesses, I would say give the job to the most qualified person to do that job. If they happen to be a QPR fan too, well that's great. If they support another club but do their job to the best of their ability that, too, is fine. Not everyone who works at M&S buys everything from there I dare say! Not everyone who works at Ford drives one - possibly a bad example as most may do with staff discounts etc. Beard has a proven track record as discussed here previously. Let him get on with it.
This, this and this a million times. If anything, having a CEO who isn't a QPR fan might well be better. More objective.
This, and this a million times as well. It was the same on another thread I read where by people were hoping that the contract to build the new training ground was kept "in house" and went to QPR supporters - I mean some people really are away with the fairies. We have to separate the operational aspects and playing aspects of Queens Park Rangers FC from being a fan. We also have to remember that unlike a lot of supporters, QPR for people is a job, not their entire existence.
If some one with an objective footballing business brain had looked at the Samba deal, it might not have happened. Whereas I, as a fan, was desperate for him to come. I was wrong, clouded by the emotion of wanting my club to succeed.
I think it is far better that the CEO or any key role in the general running of the club is not done by a 'fan' of the club. Business decisions require cold, hard, non-emotional thought processes, Beard will stand or fall on that alone...
You may think its a stupid thread, and indeed it may well be a stupid thread, but it was simply information that I had heard. So keep your abusive comments to yourself, gobby. If you cant be polite dont comment.
Now we're relegated he'll be in his element, never happier than when he can spit his bile at all and sundry. I'll give him a week at most before he's banned again...
Sooper, its right up your alleyway this thread. Our CEO's relations support a big Club down the road! Shock horror! This Chelsea obsession is ridiculous mate and well you know it.
