For next season, yes, Harry should be in charge. There's several reasons for this, most have been mentioned above, including the fact that he's an experienced manager, he has proved in the past that he can drag a disructive, unruly squad together (he did just that at Spuds) and we need somewhere in the club where there's a bit of stability and consistency. I'd like to throw in two more reasons: firstly, Harry can attract players that a lot of other managers couldn't. Certainly if Hughes or Warnock were still in charge, we'd not have brought in Remy or Townsend. Probably not Samba either, seeing as Hughes tried and failed to get him (i know... money talks and all that, but it's true). And secondly, I honestly think that in order to get out of the Championship, you need a manager that can out-think the other managers. Warnock is great at this, and I really believe Harry will be as good.
Mixed to say the least. I really like AVB as a person, I think he comes off well in interviews and it's easy to see why our players like him. Despite us competing for a top 4 place like I felt we should I think a lot of us have been underwhelmed by the quality of our play. I don't think we'll see many/any calling for his head if we miss out on a CL spot but I think some will believe they were right to question sacking Redknapp and AVB's hiring. If we do get 4th I think it would be a very grumpy Spurs fan would deny he's done well. It's a fickle old game is football I wasn't meaning to sound negative on 'Arry, he helped our club out immensely during his time and the football we played in the first half of last season was the best I'd ever seen us play. I was just saying that his weakness and strength can be his transfers and as Fernandez doesn't seem like he has particularly strong footballing opinions so he needs another voice to be able to disagree with 'Arry at times and reign him in a bit. It would also help with the continuity because if 'Arry left he wouldn't be taking the plans for the club with him. As I said, I think he'll get you back up in 1 or 2 seasons which I think should be considered more than good enough for you guys. If you wanted one of these new, young, fashionable managers it's always a bit of a risk and I think you have to be patient above all, AVB's made quite a few mistakes with us and I'm sure he'll continue to but the plus side is he's learning and he's had some really good moments too. I wasn't as much against sacking Redknapp as I was against the initial idea of us hiring AVB but whilst I'm still not totally sure he's the man to take us forward, it's quite an exciting experiment.
Think we will have to agree to disagree here mate. The players are the ones to blame. Hughes didnt accept any blame either did he. The players have failed miserably all season and as TF has said today they dont care, and havent been putting in the required effort all season. Why are you defending the players after this season. Yes individually they are good (well meant to be), but they are not a team. And imo no amount of time is going to make them a team. The divisions are too big. If they stay together and we dont ged rid of the wasters we will be in trouble again.
You beat me to it.. the players have been woeful and bar a few, should be ashamed. They won't be though...
