Who will be crowned "the Daddies of the Capitol"?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by Hoddle is a god, Apr 29, 2013.

  1. That's not a real prize, it's something that I made up.

Nonetheless, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs can claim that 3rd spot in the EPL and effectively be crowned "the Daddies of the Capitol." Some might see Chelsea as being favourites to lift the crown (and make amends for finishing dismally behind the two North London giants, last season), but with the prospect that they and us could play each other into a stalemate (as well as Chelsea losing to United), the Gunners will fancy their chances of being the party left standing in the shower-block with a pool-ball loaded sock.

As for us, all we have to do is to win all of our remaining fixtures and we are certain to finish above Arsenal, so our fate is very much in our own hands, in that regard. However, we could beat Chelsea and still end up finishing behind them, so we need United to do us a massive favour and give the Chelsea boys a good buggering in the greenhouse.

It's all to play for, but there is still the chance that we'll be able to turn to our London rivals and sneeringly declare, "we're the Daddies, now!"

Doesn't make a jot of difference to me. We have already done the double over Arsenal so they can't really claim to be our superiors.

I only want 3rd as it means no playoff against potentially tough opposition.

Many permutations but laying all your eggs in the United beating Chelsea basket is a risky strategy given they now have nothing to play for. Nobody expected Spurs to beat City and everybody expected Arsenal to lose to United. Even the best teams suffer from a lack of motivation when the season is done and can be caught out. I said weeks ago I'd rather play United in this scenario than a team like Wigan that will fight dog and bone for every point.

Funny that because you think Villa will be a push over....

Lampard and Terry are old men so they should be in the running.

You'd be a mug to try to predict this one. It will be interesting watching with no vested interest in the outcome.

It will probably come down to the final day.

    Chelsea v Everton
    Newcastle v Arsenal
    Spurs v Sunderland

All those opponents have something to play for now, but it's unlikely that any of them will have come the 19th May.

Not really a strategy though is it? What do you propose we try and bribe the ref to favour United. Our only strategy is to try to win all our games, the rest of it we have no control over. Therefore don't get the risky bit about hoping Utd beat you.

My strategy is for you to get beaten by Villa, Utd, Everton and us, then we'll only need a point <cheers>

In Terry's case he may litterally be the father of some of the other players.

Not if on the weekend we win, Arsenal draw and you guys lose, then any result in our game will leave it wide open for at least 2 teams :)

In terms of our game on it's own, anything other than a Chelsea win will leave it open across all 3 spots.

I didn't mean mathematically I meant realistically but yeah I agree

We have been lucky with injuries. Given we've played 15-20 more games than anyone else our medical staff have done an excellent job keeping players fit. We need to keep Ramires, Mata, Hazard and Oscar fit to clinch top 4. If those 4 in particular stay fit we've every chance. If we pick up injuries then it's in the balance. We simply need 3 wins, easier said than done though <yikes>

I assumed it was an award initiated by Capitol Records? I like the fact that we can't criticise typos now, Ensil really has a lot to answer for <laugh>

How Coco the clown has suddenly got Chelsea winning games is completely beyond me, perhaps it's a match made in heaven.

But can you really see that happening based on current form of the three teams involved? Not likely.

  19. It was a typo. I was too busy being witty with my Scum/Ray Winstone parody. Aficionados of that movie will have spotted my subtle references.
