  1. Well we're not going to sign the players we want if we don't raise it. I'm not saying ridiculous wages like 110k like owen was on. But 50k is just stupid, especially if the club have expressed ambitions of Europe.

Barton and Tiote deserve more than 50k a week, as they'll give more than that back.

65k wage cap seems fair enough to me. If Ashley can afford to **** money out at a casino, he can afford higher wages.

Ashley can but the club cant. He wants it to be able to run itself so it doesn't have to keep forking out massive amounts of money for it.

The money in football will burst eventually, and it will be sooner than u think so maybe Ashley knows to be patient.

50k is more than enough, and like it or not, Ashley can spend his money how he wants. If 50k is what the club can afford, raising it would be pointless.

What is it that Louise Taylor and David Craig have in common again?

  6. Ashley could raise it if he wants, but he's running it so the club can't do anything.

I hate how he's branded "the owner". ****ing annoys me that he thinks he can do what he wants with it, but the thing is HE CAN! <grr>

I personally think if the Premier League see a club with an owner that's treating it like ****, they should be able to step in.

Were you dropped on your head shortly after birth?

If we raise it, then we will go back into debt, exactly like we did with Shepherd. 50k is more than enough, and is huge for a promoted club.

Maybe it could go up, but he has to get his money back somehow.

Keeping the club on an even keel, and having a little comfort cushion isn't too bad.

We'd all love to have an open cheque book and buy a winning team, but would we really want to be like Chelski and Man City after all these years?

  11. Well he could start by taking the sale from the Enrique transfer. He can keep the money for any player he sells, apart from Carroll which we need to strengthen.

    12m for Enrique
    1.5 for Routledge.
    1m for Smith
    2m for Xisco
    1m for Perch
    Campbell is now gone.

There's 17.5 million. Thats a start, then maybe we can afford to put up the wage cap, since Smith will be leaving that will leave an extra 65k a week free, plus 60k a week from Xisco, and another 100k a week for the other 4 together.

All we'll need is an extra 3/4 players who can inheret their wages from the 210k + that is now free and Mike Ashley gets 17.5 million.

    <ok>

  13. Please name the faults in my argument.

Selling these players will free up wages, and we can use the free wage amounts to pay the new players wages. 3 quality players on 60/70k a week would be no more than what we're paying currently, plus Ashley gets a decent amount towards the amount we owe him <ok>

Maybe you should apply for the chief accountants job at SJP Tash, tell Ashley you can solve all his financial problems and keep the club in the black.

Aye and what about the rest of team who are on less wages? Ones after new contracts and ones who've just signed new deals? It'll be a case of "why cant I have that" and it will cause unrest and people wanting more money.

And what about other potential new players we sign? Surely if they know other players have been signed for 60/70/80k a week they will want this aswell, this is the whole point in the wage cap in the first place.

In short you cant just sign a few select players on astronomical wages because then everyone will want this, and those who are refused will kick up a fuss or leave....

I get your idea, but you are thinking in naive terms.

  16. Apart from perhaps Tiote who's ambitious and is worth that amount, who's going to ask for those sorts of wages at the club?

I'm not saying we should immediately offer 60/70k a week to every new signing, but if we really like the look of a player like perhaps Gervinho, and we reckon he can deliver, then why not?

We can start by offering them a smaller sum, but rise our offer for wages to those sort of amounts if we're in competition.

I agree it's a complex thing i'm discussing extremely briefly here, but i reckon that the wages freed from the ****e we'll get rid of shouldn't be wiped from existence, but offered to a new player.

Like Smiths 65k a week offered to Gervinho if we have to.

So sell six players and use the savings on their wages to pay a few players more than the wage cap. Thereby keeping a couple of mercenaries happy whilst rendering the wage cap useless. Thus leading to other players demanding the same and a return to escalating salary costs.

In addition the failure to cut the wage bill of the club will mean that our chance of breaking even will sharply reduce or become impossible meaning that under the new FIFA rules we will not be eligable for europe.

I could also mention that our squad was paper thin this season so we actually need to increase player numbers not reduce them so this would be a bad move in that regard too.

    Great idea Tash!

  18. I never said anything about breaking the wage cap for new players, you should go back and read my other posts.

Then we have a smaller squad and we can only marginally increase the wage cap. You're arguing with the business plans of a billionaire, with Football Manager-esque fantasy about selling and buying players.

The whole idea is flawed <doh>

  20. We wont have a smaller squad. We'll sell 5 and buy 3 and get some loans in or give the kids more of a chance to progress.

I'd rather have 3 good players, than those 6 that could leave us mate apart from Enrique but he's not really our player anymore i don't think.
