I think we need to bring Coloccini back for the last few games

Don't get me wrong, MYM and Saylor are twoo good defenders, but they just don't work well as a pair at this moment.

A few of the goals we conceded yesterday were due to lack of communication between the two, and their inability to read each others movements is quite clear.

A few other goals were due to the defenders not being able to hold a proper line.

I say, get Coloccini back in for the last few games, if he's able to play. We could use the Colo + Saylor partnership.

No other partnership we have played has had the same problem. Perch and Willo, Willo and Saylor, Saylor and Perch, Colo and Saylor, Colo and Willo - All these duo's did well, but MYM + Saylor doesn't work.

We looked better defensively with Willo in the team. We really did

I've been saying for weeks this Mbiwa and Saylor partnership is gash. Love Colo back, only one in the whole squad with any leadership

Yesterday's goals were more to do with Perch and Tiote than the two CB's.

No pressure on the ball from the midfield, makes it impossible for the defence because if the step up there's so much time and space for the opposition to pick a through ball, but if they drop off then the midfielder/striker for the opposition can carry it to the edge of the box and get a shot away ala the Sunderland game.

In the Sunderland game we dropped off, in this game we stepped up. Should only drop off when we've got 10/11 men behind the ball and should only press up and play a high line when there is pressure on the ball.

It comes down to players not knowing/carrying out their roles...which in turn comes down to Pardew.

Bet yes you're right, Colo coming back can only be a good thing.

Anything would be better than the non existent defense yesterday. Complete lack of any sort of organisation. Collo would be a massive lift. We could have had any attacking layers we wanted yesterday and still would have lost with that defense!

I agree we did leave a lot of space. However if Perch and Tiote do not know how to play in the roles they have the majority of their career, then that is shambolic on their part. Manager AND players were a shambles, lets not defend the indefensible. Every single one of them was a disgrace. Pardew must take his share of the flack but the players were a shocking.

Problem with Perch and Tiote is that they didn't seem to know which one of them was supposed to sit and protect, and which one of them was supposed to pressure the ball. In the end they both did a bit of both roles, unfortunately at the same time, so they either both half heartedly pressed the ball of both half heartedly dropped off and it was just a disaster.

For me the initial instruction should come from Pardew, but as you say they both have played that role throughout their career so if Pardew didn't give them the instruction as to who was supposed to do what then it should have taken them all of 5-10 minutes tops to sort it out between themselves.

Perch is usually solid and reliable though. Tiote is the one that is infamous for his pissing about on the ball.

It's not even a question. Colo HAS to come back in. He's better than Taylor can ever dream to be. He's the best CB I've seen at the club in my lifetime. We've also missed his leadership on the pitch (we have none at present) and organizational skills.

**** me I was sat in the stand and I worked out the idea was for them both to play there and stifle Coutinho and Gerrard. They play there and Sturridge likes to drop, the tactic was obvious. It was just very poorly executed. Players are not blameless for me. Granted Pardew got it wrong as HBA should have started and Jonas should have been dropped. I also would have played one holder and let them worry about us, but playing two is not a new tactic suddenly invented.

But it doesn't help when Cabaye and Sissoko completely and utterly bottle it and try to find somewhere to hide, and then you have Perch and Tiote showing a complete lack of discipline early doors. I was embarrassed by every single player bar Cisse (who tried) yesterday. We had the heart of Fraudley Harrison

We really have nothing to lose by playing Colo in the next three games, even if he is ring rusty.
We have no leadership on the field and no organisation at the back.
Unless he is really still unfit to play, he must start.
Also I think he owes it to the club and his team mates to do all he can before he leaves, because his antics in January around wanting to leave, at such short notice and at such a crucial time, undoubtably played a big part in unsettling the team and the club.
Not the only reason we are in the mess we are, but definitely aggravated issues in my opinion.
As far as l am concerned, he owes us three Captains performances.

Not sure, but not a good time to experiment. I'd stick with Perch at the moment. But not alongside Tiote.

Like a lot of foreign players particularly in defence, Mbiwa and Haidara need time. Something we havent got at the moment. We were wide open on the left this weekend and normally the out of form Guti at least provides some cover there but didnt this weekend. Also with a naturally attackng right back in Debuccy you need cover for him in midfield too but he had none so we were wide open on both sides of defence. None of this explains tho why we had 5 in midfield yet they had acres of space in there. At kids teams we teach to pick up runners and not leave players in space. Why do we always struggle against teams who simply pass and move, its not rocket science. The whole team were pathetic on sunday but we need to move on. In the absence of Collo this weekend (although i really hope its true he could be back) i honestly would use Willo and to be honest i would play Anita at left back or failing that even Perchinho.
    My line up Elliott
    Simmo Saylor Collo/Willo Anita
    Goufran Tiote Cabs Guti
    Ben Arfa
    Cisse

We wil win with this team at West Ham or QPR if not both, One win will keep us up, Heres Hoping, Keep the faith.
