Southend United's team-talk today was given by Jeremy Kyle. Yep, Jeremy Kyle. Phil Brown got him in to do it...
I bet that had Ben Reeves scratching his head! From playing in the PL to having a team talk from Jeremy Kyle in the same season...bizarre!
Amazingly Molyneux was the last player to get sent off in a League game at St Marys, then he got sent of today when the next red card at St Marys occurred. I think Forecast only let in 3 today, God knows why Gillingham played him, although that was surely his last ever game as a professional footballer.
I'll mention again the day I heard Phil Brown on the radio saying he thought he had the Saints job after a good meeting with Mr Cortese. Lucky escape.
I'm actually looking forward to this game. Must-win for both. I'm hoping for it to be a draw going into injury time. QPR get a corner, Green goes up for it. Then Reading get a corner, and McCarthy goes up. Etc etc.
Come on, Reading. Nice team with smashing manager deserve it more than baggy face and his overpaid crew. Article yesterday was saying how much better off Readfing will be compared to QPR after relegation. Said QPR will find it hard to shift some players who are on 40+K a week...suggested that, even with parachute payments, QPR will lose 50 mill next season.
Granero clips the crossbar with a free kick, unlucky. Reading trying to find the diagonal ball to Pogrebnyak, one of Nigel's favourite tactics.
Commentator: 'Two average teams playing average at the moment' 'So why isn't the game at least average'.
Didn't realise that both teams could be relegated today until they mentioned that Villa and Wigan play last game of the season, meaning that one of those two is guarenteed to be at least one point above Reading and QPR, providing they both draw today. I'm going for a 0-0 draw, which will be ironic because of how poor their defences are!
Amazingly this looks like finishing 0-0. Neither team looks in the slightest bit bothered. At least the supporters are in good spirits. Both sets of fans join forces in a chorus of 'if you're all off to Bournemouth clap your hands' followed by 'if you're not going Wolves clap your hands'. Robert Green has been so busy in goal that he has had time to acknowledge the crowd as they call for a wave.
What a terrible game of football, every time the ball gets into a decent position there's a bad touch or the play has no support and the ball goes down the other end for the same thing to happen. Truly championship quality football at best.
Living up to the El Crappico billing at the moment. You can see Nigel is trying to get Reading to play football, but half their players have got awful 1st touches and no creativity. McAnuff is the only player with a sense of urgency about him. Painful to watch at the moment.
