    18:48 HRS 27/04/13 Don't feel lucky

After today's dreadful performance andyet another match where we have NO SHOTS OIN TARGET against our relegation rivals, I think that whatever division we are playing in next season, Hughton must go.

Nice man, crap tactician, crap manager.

TBH I really can't see how anyone can honestly say IHWT

I actually agree, too negative for my liking. I just wish we would go for it more, i think you have to look at the second half of the season, the results have been **** to be honest, and Hughton hasn't changed things. I would love Martinez in myself and keep Ewen Chester.

Wigan and Villa face eachother last game of season. I do think we'll get something against villa and that's it. I think that'll be enough. But i am not gonna bury my head in the sand because we've stayed up. This second half of the season is a huge concern.

    Question ?

IF we stayed up at Wigan's expense, would you take Martinez as replacement for Hughton ?

I wouldn't. It would mean starting all over again. Chopping and changing managers every time things get difficult just makes things worse. Today wasn't about the manager, it was about the players.

Sorry mate but that WAS about the Manager, he resorted back to the old tactics, "lets not lose" defend at all costs, but when we go a goal down there just isn't a plan B. We are at the bottom of the division and seem to be relying on other teams to get us out of the ****, when we should be attacking and trying to win games. ANOTHER GAME WITH NO SHOTS ON TARGET IS NOT THE PLAYERS FAULT!!
Why was Kamara playing? According to Hughton "to give us extra height defending in our own box"!!!!!!!!! Do we not have 2 big blokes doing that already??? Even more worrying is the headline in todays EDP where Hughton says "STOKE ARE A MODEL FOR US SAYS HUGHTON"!! Well I've got news for you mate, NO THEY ****ING WELL AREN'T"! If you're trying to make us into a Stoke (which I can see you are) then you will be without my support next season!!

I'm not sure who has more to answer for, Chris Hughton or Maltese Mick <yikes>

I would take Martinez myself. Wigan are most limited when it comes to resources, they've never had much to spend in the Premier League and he has a record of signing good young players. Most importantly they play really nice football, which I think our team is more suited to, especially with Wolfswinkel in next year. I think he would be better than Hughton.

Also RiverendRick, I think that Martinez would prove fairly long term. We are a club and fanbase who are used to seeing our club playing nice football and we have a squad perhaps more capable of playing that way, probably more so than last year with an improved defence. I just don't see how 2 wins in nearly 5 months can be ignored. I was in the In Hughton We Trust camp mid February after this 5 months I can't really see how we are going to go forward with him now. Worst of all I fear Wolfswinkel will flop under him due to the negative mentality we seem to be playing with.

Are you sure? Really nice football or not, Wigan are still below you in the Prem, and far more likely to be relegated than you are, IMO... would you still want him if he got relegated with Wigan at the end of the season?

I'm not even sure what this "really nice football" means in this context, what does it mean to you?

Projecting forward to the end of the season, Hughton keeps you up with points to spare..., Wigan are relegated, would you really want to get rid of Hughton and bring in the recently relgated Martinez?

Yeah, I would honestly rather have Martinez in than Hughton. Wigan have been punching above their weight with the resources they have, I think he has done a good job there, losing Moses will be whats relegated them this year.

I think my first choice would be Malky, but whether we could persuade him or not is another point.

Anyway I don't think it'll happen either way to be honest, I expect Hughton will be given a chance next season.

I think that it could also be said that you have been punching above your weight this season (no disrespect at all, in fact it's something of a compliment), but you won't get Malky!

I fully expect you to be in the Prem next season, and with Hughton at the helm, whether he can change his tactics/formations/style of play is another matter, I myself would doubt it, leopards not changing their spots and all that, but good luck anyway!<ok>

I agree with both those comments, although this second half of the season I think we have been significantly underperforming which is my course for concern and why I would consider installing a new manager at the best time you can. I agree about Malky, I just think he is the best manager coming through at the minute.

I think we need to change mentality and style of play next season otherwise I think we will go down next year.

Too late to change our mentality and style of play this year, I think, so we just have to hope and pray that either Wigan or Villa don't get to 38 because I don't think we are going to get another point.

It's certainly not brilliant at the moment, but I look at Wolves, all but in League One, and Portsmouth in League Two, and count my blessings.

We're not too bad, are we?

Talking of lucky, we have recently lost two games by 1-0 against teams who are basically every bit as poor as us. But if you don't even get into their penalty area, you won't get lucky. And if you sit back and let them have the ball, guess what they get lucky at least once in 90 minutes. So they get two extra points each and we lose one.
