Don't forget we had Bradley Johnson, who had an excellent season last time as well (even being toted for England at one stage). Mind you, you're correct in saying that Foxie doesn't provide the defensive cover that Tettey does. The difference is that our central midfielders are incapable of attacking (I can't recall a single forward pass made by Tettey or Johnson today). Our transition between breaking down an opponents attack and then counter attacking is awful. The amount of times we get the ball, faff around with it for a minute or so and end up passing it back to Bunn who belts it long is ridiculous.
I agree with some posters that a lack of confidence is the main cause of certain players not performing, but I have serious issues with our coaching staff who have been unable to improve any player this season (possibly Turner and Bunn excepted).
Unless we can improve our attacking play (and we can't just rely on buying players like RVW), next season looks gloomy.

    Evening Budgies! <ok>

I've stayed off this board this evening as I know you're having a bit of a hard time tonight what with the Stoke result, and I don't want to be accused of wumming, kicking a man when he's down and all all that...

But surely most of you must still believe that you'll stay up? (I do!)

It would take a lot of results to go against you for you to be relegated (something that we were facing up until today), and your destiny is still in your own hands.

I'm just wondering, having read through this thread, how many of the "Hughton Outers" would be changing their tune if you got a win against Villa next week and secured your place in the Prem for another season..? And a home win against WBA the following week would change the picture entirely. As I see it, you don't even need to win another game to stay up.

Anyway, we secured our survival today, not that it was really in any doubt, but it's nice to get that mathematical safety <ok>

    Have a good evening, lads<ok>

I personally want him out regardless, not because of the points, but because

    a) I don't like how he talks about the game
    b) I don't like his approach to the game
    c) I don't think he has any tactical sense or adaptability
    d) I don't think his plan has any long term merit

He is a manager that goes for the easy option.

Lambert was long ball to a certain extent, but this guy has just lowered us to about as bad as it can get as an approach to play the game.

    I cannot stand him.

    Evening all gents

Being serious (and i cant believe im saying this) but i feel sorry for all your fans that travelled today to be confronted by a performance like that, and still there is certain people trying to defend whotun and his tactics.

The club should refund any costs to your travelling contingent today.

Hughton has the bravery of a hedgehog and the speed of a sloth, when it comes to making substitutions.

Chins up, Newcastle are plumetting fast, morale will be awful following 0-3 Sunderland and 0-6 Liverpool, plus Villa are still terrible (if we draw against them, that is enough for us), plus Wigan should now be checked (two body-blows with losses to Man City and the two points dropped against Spurs, their LB is injured and they will all be looking ahead to the cup final)

On this form, Newcastle will lose to QPR, who will probably want to give their fans something to cheer about. They have nothing to lose after all and that makes them the most dangerous opponent

Obviously, a great many of us on here don't live close enough to go to home games. Some not even away games of course.
What is the feeling around the ground with the bulk of the supporters that don't post on here? Are they happy to just stay up? Is there an increase in the opinion that the coaching staff have got it wrong? That CH is not the man to lead us again next season no matter what our league position?

I came away from the Reading game worried. My tune won't change if we beat Villa, but negative opinions get shot down on here sometimes. Even if Ronald McDonald was in charge people would be called a "doom monger' for not backing him.

Mid February I was "In Hughton we trust", the thing which has done my head in is the fact NOTHING has changed. Hughton hasn't changed things at all and frankly I think it's shown he is inept as a manager. It's been a horrendous few months to be honest and our two wins were not deserved to be honest.

Welly, in all probability we will survive but a large slice of the thanks would have to go to the team that ends up in 18th place for being worse that us over the course of the season but I doubt any team has played as badly as we have in the last 4 months! Even QPR have shown signs of life in trying to rescue their perilous position but for some reason, in the main, our team cannot play well for much more than 10-20 minutes in any given game.

I reckon if we survive the real person to thank is the fixture computer for getting our utterly perilous games out of the way. We should buy him (her) a drink!

IF we stay up, then im willing to give Hughton 8 games next season to get us playing the Norwich way again and use the players we will have at our disposal to there true qualities and ability. At this moment in time, im excited at the fact were going to have RVW upfront next season but im horrified at how Hughton will use him and destroy his qualities with the way the rest of the team will be set up!
