A very bad day at the office, but we do seem to have lost the ability to score. Are the players exhausted from the training, are they on their hols, are we missing Shaw...could go on and on, but lets say one bad game and move on. Worrying at LB if Shaw isn't fit (and it doesn't look good). Spurs did us a favour today and look as if they can be beaten. Just had to talk my son down by pointing out that, because of that late Spurs goal, Wigan need 3 wins or 2 wins and 2 draws to pass us from their last 4 games (and they have an FA Cup match to play). Be a shame to finish lower down the league, but we look safe and next season we can start all over again.
Done his ankle ligaments, wearing a cast, supposedly back for the Sunderland game. Anyway, don't worry everyone, we're playing a big team next so three points in the bag! Hope Targett gets a go, even if it would be a baptism of fire.
Got a boot on, but that could be precautionary. Shows how we lack depth when things happen (and they usually do). 2 Red cards after none all season!
It does show that if(!) we were to qualify for the Europa league next season through fair play, although today would be a big blow to that, that we really don't have the squad for it at this moment in time. (Nor the quality in my opinion)
It's one bad game. Missed a big chance today, but mustn't get too much on the players back...that's the managers job. Hope he pins their ears to the wall, then comes out and tells us all is well.
To be fair I don't think there are many teams in the league who have 3 left backs they'd be happy to play...
Luckily i didn't have to watch it. Wasn't playing down how bad the game was, but just saying we haven't suddenly become the worst team in the league. We've had a lot of highs lately, so have to roll with the lows.
True, today all the players looked like they had booked their holidays already. No one gave a damn apart from maybe Clyne but even he was below par.
Worse performance since we were relegated from the Championship. Probably only Boruc & Clyne can say they played alright, the rest were atrocious. Was quite shocked at how bad we were and also annoyed that the manager just sat on the bench for the first 15 mins of the 2nd half when it was clear things weren't working and if WBA scored again (we could ALL see it coming) it was game over. Can't wait to see lots of photos on the official website of players smiling in training.... perhaps it might be a better sight after a woeful performance like that to see them coughing their lungs up and looking pissed off. They've had a lot of praise recently, today they let themselves and us down as I found that quite a humiliating defeat. I hope the players and management did too.
I would rather see targett play left back than anyone else but he shouldn't come straight into the first team when he hasn't even been a sub for us. By rights Forren should come in or Richardson at right back and clyne on the left. I don't believe fox is really as bad as he looks every time he defends, there must be some explanation for his horrendous positioning, it is a hard thing to get right but he is an experienced professional and should be able to get his positioning right at the very least
It's gonna have to be Richardson if Shaw's not fit, which is worrying given I can't remember him playing any u21 games this season. Targett vs Lennon would be fun
They did mention on Sky this morning that it would be interesting how we would do over the whole season. The suggestion was that we would need a very strong squad to play the style that Mauricio likes. Perhaps they are jaded. I bet we get a response in the Spurs game...not saying definitely a win, but I'm sure they will be up for it.
