Got to getto work, so as I can't wait until this announcement about Suarez comes out I'll assume FSG are rolling over again. This being the case (and i hope I'm wrong) I think it's time to take the club back AT THE PRICE IT WAS BOUGHT from JH. Look, they obviously didn't know they were buying the pariah/whipping boy of the English media and FA for the last 25 years, and every time the Mail threatens to toxify their precious brand, they back down like the craven, corporate "franchisees" that they fundamentally are. A worldwide share offer of £500 oper share (maximum of 10) will easily do it, and then we should ban all the English media expect the BBC and the Post & Echo for all games apart from those contractually obliged (eg Sky on matchdays). I said after Evra that this wouldn't end there, and won't now whether Luis goes or stays. Absolutely pointless trying some half-harsed PR campaign to win over the media and the FA, especially. Making me wretch watching us yap like a frightened poodle, and then cower waiting for the same bastards that conspired with the police and government to cover up the deaths of almost 100 innocent people, and are completely unapologetic about it, to whip us to a pulp while their audience of self-righteous gobshites egg them on. Go now FSG, you have no affiliation with the history, culture and defiance of this club or its supporters.
Do it donga, brilliant idea, as if the fans own it, you couldn't run up massive annual losses, as you wouldn't have any cash beyond your turnover with which to fund them. You'd be doomed to eternal mediocrity.
The decision to appeal was allegedly Suarez's, and not Brendan's or the Board. I was skeptical of fan ownership as I felt such a model would mean that we struggle to raise finances to fund big purchases - i.e players, stadium etc. Looking at the German model, clubs must be controlled, with at least 50% plus one of votes on important decisions, by their members, the supporters. The remaining share comes from big nationals etc. However, it replies on a BIG funding/sponsorship in order to survive. Bayern have some of the biggest commercial revenue in the world.
errrr.... no seriuosly Dude, you dont help us Wum wise. do i agree that the FA leadership as it stands today is weak, indecisive & contradictory which allows claims of bias? yes. do I believe the FA of the eighties have blood on their hands as much as the police? yes. do I believe they are remotely the same organisation with the same figures running it? absolutely not. generalisations are dangerous & unproductive (e.g. all football fans are hooligans that should be penned up...). To tar this lot (as incompetent as they are) with the brush of Hillsborough is just plain wrong. and invites comments from others like yesterday. if we cant seperate issues correctly why should the wums? have FSG made some serious PR mistakes since takeover? yes. was accepting this ban one of them? no: the FA didnt make the charge up; they didnt make up evidence. Suarez did this plain & simple. he did this act knowing he would get no lenient treatment from the FA or our media so he deserves everything he got if only for taking stupidity to a new level. BR might not think so but by putting himeelf in a situation allowing the FA to ban him & put LFC/owners in a no win situation with the fans again is the very essence of letting us down. I know like me & others you are upset about how the FA & FSG handled the Evra case but thats gone. Suarez didnt stand on some higher principles otherwise he wouldnt have signed a new contract to stay in the FA's clutches longer. he could have got a similar deal elsewhere, he chose not to. add to that, if the FA are as corrupt as you say they are; what is the likely result of appeal? lengthier ban and a more hostile press. maybe you haven't noticed but since we've accepted the charge & not defended (too much) the indefensible a large part of the media have actually criticised the FA. which is what we want not more articles about the arrogance of LFC and Suarez. theres a difference between kowtowing & playing the game well. I know you love the club but I honestly think its a mistake to try & somehow distill the essence of the club into the battles over this one player: he's been here a very short time in comparison to true bastions of the club & be honest, FA & xenophobic press aside; not many LFC fans at this moment in time (i may be wrong) will look back and want to say that Suarez epitomises the spirit and class of Liverpool Football Club. hes a very skillful player with a winning mentality that on occssion borders on insanity. hes not yet earned the place of ambassador or servant of our club. as such the pedestal is not yet warranted.
This has nothing to do with FSG - time to start blaming Suarez and stop tip toeing round him because he's a good player.
The Everton model, but without a fanbase restricted to enclaves in County Rd, Denbigh and Earlestown? You'll excuse me Tobes if we take your financial and business predictions with a shovel full of salt after the tit you made of yourself during H&G's High Court case in 2010.
Whereas the 'legend' who was berating him on Sunday once laid out a Romanian player in a EC semi-final and was ****ing lucky we didn't play with ten men for the rest of the tie, whilst the other won **** all and was the original Spice Boy. Look, after Evra i said the FA would back as they were enjoying the adulation of being the media's bully, as opposed to being being bullied. It's to suarez's eternal shame that he knew that but still couldn't control himself. that said though, that's not the issue. They came back and they'll be back again next time they want that nice warm feeling, whether Luis is still with us or not. So no, I don't think sucking up and appeasing will change anything in the long-run. We're the nation's whipping boys and sooner or later we'll have to confront them nd stop running. And FSG are not the people to do it -wait and see.
Sorry I'll defer to a train spotter from York, who armed with his 115 page summing up of the Suarez / Evra debacle & wikipedia, became a bar room lawyer & self professed expert on all things corporate. LMAO. This is a crock of **** idea that will never happen donga, there's a prediction for you love. Bookmark it
I actually agree with a lot of what you're said in there Donga but i'm not sure this will work practically. How many fan run clubs are there in England? The biggest is now Portsmouth - I just don't see a fan buy out being able to sustain a club as big as us with the debts/foreign commitments/future spending. Portsmouth will only have the fan buyout until they get back to the Championship where they will need to sell to take the next step. The Germans have the likes of Audi with a share too. We could perhaps try and follow this model? Cutting ourselves off from the media i'm not sure would help though.
It died on it's arse the last time 'dem yanks' were deemed unacceptable owners by the fanbase & the £500 pledges (& they were only notes of interest) ran out of steam with the equivalent of £25M accounted for. I love the banning all the media bit btw genius at work there, plus it's great how you think the FA have decided to 'victimise' LFC, I suppose this only started the day Barwick left?
