I get the whole childhood club, and as a player probably the best centre forward the premier league will see(goals wise), just don't think he can have much advice to give about career decisions, unless it was go back to Everton. And In fairness it's commendable what he did with Newcastle, after the current crop of Giggs, Scholes, Carragher, Gerrard etc I can't see many other players be a one club man, or joining because it was your boyhood club, the player we are talking about left his boyhood club, and I can never see him going back, Shearer was an Idol to the Geordies.

At work listening to TalkSPORT, and Midfield dynamo that is Lou Macari mentioned Luka Modric's name was being banded around, would be a bitter pill to swallow after the OT match but what do we think of him in with Carrick? Watched him alot with spurs and he was a little Pocket Rocket!

Well after last night I can't see us bidding for Lewandowski (if it was realistically on the cards)...

He just added about 20 million to his transfer fee with that performance, an incredible goal scorer.

I can only see Bayern or a team willing to spend really really silly money on him buying him (PSG, City).

According to reports, Fergie will up his efforts to get Lewandowski in the summer. As much as he is a brilliant striker and would enhance any team, im not sure if this is needed or even possible after last night's showing (price through the roof now), and his agent has just stated that he has already agreed terms to join another club, but all could depend on Rooney and Hernandez( I don't want either to leave). We have all ready scored over 100 goals this season so that ain't a problem. I would much prefer to go in for Midfielders and cover at the back,

Rumours are he's going to Bayern for around £25 million. If that's the price then I'd definitely expect us to still be involved, although I doubt his head will be turned away from Bayern given he's probably well settled in Germany and Bayern are the best in Europe right now.

Yeah it's risky moving to another league, and makes perfect sense to move to the biggest, richest and by far most successful team in your current league.

And given the performances of the respective teams in the CL this year it's a no brainer to be honest... Unfortunately.

I feel bad for Dortmund now, won the Bundesliga 2 years in a row and are well placed to make it into the champions league final, and their players are still leaving! They could win the CL and their players would still leave for other clubs. What surprises me is it not like they're a small club overachieving or anything, but the players seem to want out. Imagine if when the class of 92 broke through the first team, we started selling the like of Scholes ect. We'd be nowhere close to the level we're at now.

With that said, I hope we make a move or Lewandowski and drop Rooney into midfield to accommodate him.

Dortmund are fan financed and it's cheap to get into their ground, excellent as that is they don't have the financial clout that Bayern do so the players leave for the glamour and money Bayern can offer and Dortmund make good money on the transfer.

    Sad but true.

    Essentially, yes.

Although they do get their youth from closer to home rather than plundering Africa and Spain!

They also took advantage of the buyout clause themselves with Reus so it works for them as well as against.

The major difference being it is far from cheap to get into an Arsenal game.

You could get season ticket at Dortmund for one of the most expensive games at the new library.

    Probably.

Yes I saw the manager say this in a press conference, thought it was I fair comment to make.

Many managers would be so biased and just see how they have been screwed over by Bayern buying Goetze, I was rather impressed by their statement.

Of course it would be costly. He won't go anywhere on the cheap.

Or do you mean it will cost us in other areas ?

between him and jovetic .. I think we need jovetic more to inject flair and creativity we are lacking.. but we can argue that we have Kagawa, but i think jovetic is a better player

Lewandowski is not the strongest, not the best in the air, not the fastest, not the finest finisher .. he is good on all of them but nothing exceptional.. he may had scored 4 against Real but missed some easy chances in previous matches

anyway, Sir Alex knows better than me, so i trust his judgment.. but imo there is a big risk we will end up with another Berba

Jovetic is heavily linked with Arsenal but I don't think we need either. The 4 forwards we have atm are more than enough, plus we have some youth prospects like henriquez that could be slowly introduced.

Jovetic is at least one rung down in the class of player we need to be approaching, he wouldn't improve on any we have.

    Leave him to Arsenal.

We need last year like signings again. One high profile, a midfielder and another mid profile, another midfielder or a right back even. We've got enough strikers and young players coming through, so no concern on those departments.

well, all gonna depend on who will leave
my guess for those will be leaving: Anderson & Nani
if we add Scholes to the mix .. we will definitely need 2 CM and 1 winger, but again may be Zaha will play in that winger role
given how last season we chased for a left back, we could be still on for one as am not totally convinced with Büttner
