    Is a joke.

I haven't seen a televised game in ages where thw game has actually been in play for 90 minutes. What happened to 'a minimum of x minutes'?

Leicester tonight for example had 5 minutes added and most of that was spent with the ball out of play (as it always is). The ball went out on 95 exactly and he blew for full time as soon as it came back into play. Would it be that hard to just ****ing use the stopwatch?

If refs can't manage the simple stoppage time system we should just use a stop the clock system instead like in RL.

Oh and if we could start giving stone wall penalties that would obviously be given if it was the defending team being fouled that'd be great.

You do realise that for an average game the ball is only in play for 60 minutes anyway? (this drops to 6 minutes when Burnley are involved)

    Yes and it's bullshit.

Other sports don't play for 2/3 of the prescribed time limit so why does football?

Not true, even with the stop clock system in rugby the balls out of play for anything between 15 & 30% of the match, depending on how the game has been played.

The game have gone on for another 95mins and Lesta would still have lost.

In football they don't stop the watch when the ball is out of play. They only stop the watch when there are reasons they can't start.

I have always felt they should only count the time the ball was actually in play but then the time would be reduced to 60 minutes or something like that to compensate.

They only stop the clock for certain things - like when the ball goes out of play the clock stops when a scrum is formed, not when the ball goes out, or after a try the clock stops a minute after if the goal hasn't already been kicked.

Last night's injury time was a joke though, Watford took a minute over taking the free kick in the corner, the Alminuia walked almost to halfway after the ball went out at the end and the ball was on the line.

    Poor refereeing.

Why does the game need to stop to allow for a substitution? The clock doesn't?

I was a Hockey umpire, we had rolling subs. The watch was stopped only for injuries and penalties.
