I'm amazed Ozzy is still alive. How the hell he can sing I don't know, because when he talks I can't understand a word he says. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Was it with Ozzy? They've been touring for years without him.

concert was fantastic, strange to see so many young ppl enjoy a band i have like since the 70s. ozzy never put a foot or mouth wrong, absolute magic. think his impending divorce has got him off his ass to rejoin the band and tour. Brisbane was the second city of their world tour i believe. the crowd was unbelievable, never shut up for a moment and the drum sole, what can i say, went on for 10 minutes, magic evening

Ahmen to that Musty. Did see Gillan and Robert Plant many years ago. Most concerts I went to see as a young 18 year old were all heavy metal bands: Rainbow, UFO, Saxon, Whitesnake, Rush, Nazareth etc!!! Oh and Status Quo loads of times. They were happy days!!

I take it you are not too upset re JLS's break up then Musty :)

I am with you on this one and my wife is a real die hard Zep fan so this music is always on at our place.

hmmmm no glam, tbh never heard of them. i still crank the vinyl of my oldies but goodies, ozzy has lost so much weight, fark they were magic, must see if i can a ticket and fly to sydney. how do you separate sabbath, purple, zep, yes etc etc but i think this was the last opportunity to see a great (imo) band

I have to disagree. There were plenty of terrible bands around at the same time as those you mentioned.
I am listening to some amazing bands at the moment, but you'll not hear most of them on mainstream radio playlists as it's not what 'the man' wants to spoon feed us.
Every generation has had amazing bands and total ****e. For every Zepplin there was a Supertramp. For every Talking Heads there was an REO Speedwagon. For every U2 there was a Rick Astley. For every Muse there is a 1 Direction. If you are just considering 'chart bands' etc then you'll not discover anything new.
The best way I discover new music is to use something like Spotify - and use the radio station option. Search for a band you like and it will play back bands of similar genre. If you like a song - press the thumbs up button and it will modify the station to give you more of that type of song - if you hate a song simply press the thumbs down. This way your station becomes personalised. Plus you don't have any crap talking between or over the songs (as long as your not too skingy to pay for a premium account).

Oh yeah - I can't stomach bands like 'Yes' - was just self indulgent muso crap. Music for the sake of technical abilitly rather than melody or rhythm. I have seen them live about 4 times as I work in the music industry - and each time it was a painful experience. The singer has one of the most sickly voices I have ever heard - you've heard everything he has to offer in the first 2 minutes. Just my opinion and I understand that other may love them. That's how things should be.

Any of you listen to Wolfmother? If not they're a modern band but with a good 70's sound. Can hear a lot of similarities to Sabbath and Zeppelin in their music.

Vocally this reminds me a bit of Sabbath, with a Beatles chorus <party>

Funny enough, I remember when the Bay City Rollers came to Swansea and the mass hysteria that was going around. My sister was desperate to go but couldn't get tickets, so stood outside The Dragon Hotel with thousands of others screaming girls outside.
