http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22295309 Just read this article and wondered how in the name of common sense can you 'Punish an incident' Suarez was the perpertrator of this 'Incident' he was the ONLY protagonist (ivanovic would have been justified in defending himself if he had'nt been on a football feild under the duristiction of the F.A) The club should have expected this ban, instead of which the Politicly correct verbal crap excuse of 'Poor Suarez, he needs helping not punishing' is now being spouted by his club.which for what amounted to Common assault on Ivanovic and this stance is disgracefull given this Clubs search for Justice and Truth over the years! Roger's is on very dodgy ground here as I recall 'King Kenny' defending Suarez just for calling Patrice Evra (No Physical contact, just Racial Abuse) and it caused such a commotion it was one of the factors which cost him his Job. Liverpool have had our support for many years after the shamefull cover up over Hillsborough, They fought for justice with Pride and Honour and now their proud Club is being ridiculed by a Despicable Individual and weak descisions from Management/Boardroom level. I know many like LFC will say he is an Extremely Talented played, Cost a lot of money and is instumental to the team, I agree with all of these facts but it does not excuse his actions or exempt him from justice. Is it right that we just swap and change values to your own ends when ever a situation like this rears it's ugly head or should we send out a message to ALL that this is not acceptable and will not be tolerated in our Game. Before you all have a go, Just imagine your 11,12 or 13 year old son has just come back from playing for his school with a Massive Bite mark on him (No Puns please) he tells you the other lad said it was OK because he had seen Suarez do it on TV and his manager and collegues had backed him up, Would you be either on the phone to someone to complain or on your way round to 'have words with the parents? Sorry for the rant but I LOVE this Game and do not wish to see or hear of this sort of thing which sets a bad example to youngsters who idolise these players, nor to disgrace the Game itself.
Ten games is the minimum this character should have been banned for..He has done this, as well as many other things before, and needs to be taught that his behaviour will not be tolerated..
there were reports of school children "doing a Suarez" in the playgrounds after the weekend. This suggests to me that a hefty punishment is justifiable, yes he is one of the best players in the world, which makes him a roll model to kids. Yes he clearly needs help the mental mo fo! Also needs to be made an example of, i get the comparisums to deliberate elbows breaking jaws, and over the top tackles though clearly going for the man. is there that much difference?
He should be banned for life!!!! What if he had punctured his skin???? what if Suarez has hepititis or aids or some other nasty type disease and potentially passed it on?????
listened to the interview on ssn and it was cringe worthy. Yes you have to defend your players but not at all costs. Never been a fan of Rodgers, even less so now. Why is 10 games over the top when he has already recieved 7 for doing the same thing. He obviously has not learned a thing from 7 so would the FA reduce it. Suarez is probably in the top 4/5 players in the league. No probably about number 1 tosser.
It's amazing what football clubs will defend these days. They just change their morals to suit the situation. ****ing spineless
Not only should Liverpool have supported the FA and publically lambasted Saurez, he should have been very, very, heavily punished by the club also, not a measly fine that he won't even notice. Hit the dirty twat with a massive fine and make a scape goat of him.
First of all an apology to safc83 for getting a bit wound up with him on our board. I do stand by my stance that these two instances should not be mentioned in the same breath but I don't think any insult was or is intended by his posts or this thread. Consider this though, regardless of a persons opinion on what Suarez has done and regardless of the clubs stance the two instance should never be connected. The club may well be wrong in backing Suarez but please don't make comparisons. I may be being a bit harsh here but also remember that there is only 1 club who stood by us over the years the majority of the media, clubs and fans have had to backtrack after the truth came out. The support we now have is appreciated but lets not forget that we have had to put up with the cries of get a grip it was your fault for many years so trying to now connect the Suarez situation in any way to Hillsborough may cause offence.
Please dont apologise mate. Reading back, I noticed myself how it had come across and thats why I had to expand on what I was trying to say. Again though, I honestly believe nobody is making a direct comparison between the incidents, more a comparison of your clubs actions.
I'll apologise too safc83. Simply a case of mistaken identity, the last couple of days as had us LFC mods on edge and I was a bit hasty in my actions. Hope there are no hard feelings
they need to get him to a shrink to sort his life out, while he has his 10 weeks off should be long enough to get him on t he right track. if he can't accept what he is doing is incredibly wrong/dangerous in terms of his influence, he should be kicked out.
Can't believe some can think it didn't deserve more than the standard 3 games.. Had Ivanovic bitten Suarez no doubt Rodgers would be up in arms and they would be saying it's a prejudice against Suarez if Ivanovic got 8 games
You know what gets me? The way people come to his defense with the old chestnut "what go's on on a football pitch should stay on the football pitch". Well that's ok then, so if Saurez had took a 9mm onto the pitch & shot some **** in the head that's fine then eh? Common assault is just that. He's lucky not to be up in court as any one of us would be had we done the same thing at work & no doubt sacked to boot. Great player but a total ****er as a man.
Sums it up for me. If the club/fans persist in defending the indefensible they are simply going to make themselves look foolish.
