There are some nations who if you talked about them with the same amount of hostility as you talk about the Germans, you'd be deemed a massive racist. I'm not saying you are a racist, but I am saying your opinions are stupid and you should stop having them.
Lewandowski's performance tonight means he is the first man to score 4 goals in a European semi-final/final since Ferenc Puskas in 1960.
Unless you think the Germans are somehow fair game, you are saying he's racist. And frankly you should be more forthright about it. Sorry ollysaints1, I defended you on the last page but with your posts from yesterday as well you don't leave me with any choice but to conclude you are a racist.
This on BBC: Rewind three years and Blackburn Rovers were reportedly in the hunt to sign tonight's four-goal hero Robert Lewandowski. Sam Allardyce fancied a move for the then Lech Poznan striker. The German side pipped Rovers in the end in a deal worth around £4m.
He was meant to be heading to Blackburn for talks, but it never happened because of the ash cloud at the time...
Germans annoy me, the Germans who I have met annoy me, I do not take enjoyment in seeing anything German being successful. However that certainly doesn't make me a racist. It just means I don't like them, in the same sense that I don't like the guy who runs the local Indian takeaway. It's not racism.
No. I'm sory, but that is racist. Just because you had a negative experience with one or two does not mean you should dislike them all and not want anything remotely German to prosper - regardless of how well they do it. Their performances and aspects of their league are admirable. I enjoy watching both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich play. You should never base your opinions of a nation of peoples on the experiences of an extremely small sample size. To counter your bad experience there are countless good ones. E.G. Went on holiday and we ended up becoming pretty friendly with a German family whilst we were out there. They had similar interests and were around at the same time as us. Good people and should not be tarred with the lazy stereotypes that the likes of yourself do promote. You are being racist.
No, being annoyed by the persona of an individual is not racism. HOWEVER - applying that same persona to every person of that origin or nationality is racism, in the way that you have above.
If you don't like the guy from the local Indian takeaway, does that mean you hate all Indians as a result? If not, then that's not the same thing. I'm not sure what else you could do to be deemed racist, other than perhaps pick a more commonly downtrodden race. If you were saying the same things about, say, Pakistanis, I think you'd be getting banned from this website right now.
Just as DTLW has said, the answer to your question is "no", but it's a straw man. Being annoyed by one person, or even ten, and wishing misfortune on all their compatriots as a result, is racist.
Forget trying to reason with Olly, I know his type only too well...desperately trying to appear hard and a bit of a lad innit... Fortunately most adults grow out of this stage of immaturity and form reasoned intelligent views.
