After watching the JUVENTUS game at CP and the strange decisions there, now in the Barcelona Bayern game two goals which should never have been allowed I wonder if the CL is now more about viewing audiences than meritocracy. An all Spanish or all German final reduces continent wide interest.
Barca were poor and did not deserve to win. Piqué could have been penalised, but the incident carries dubiety, however goals 2 and 3 for Bayern should clearly and undoubtedly have never been allowed to stand.

UEFA need to look at the quality of the officials they appoint in crucial games. We suffered badly and Barca suffered tonight.
Spoils good games. Bayern deserved to win, but instead of having a 2 nil close tie with a great game in anticipation at Barca we have poor officiating yet again determining the outcome.
Suggestion..... Why not just ask the ref in the final to pick a winner and save the fans the travel expenses.

Very disappointed but oh dear - where to start ...

Officials were dire - two of the goals should never have stood, one was offside, the other scored with the help of a blatant foul on Jordi Alba Ramos.

We were totally flat - some very bad choices made by manager Francesc Vilanova i Bayo.

We miss Carles Puyol i Saforcada badly in defence. I don't know why Marc Bartra Aregall was selected for this game - he was totally out of his depth and Eric-Sylvain Bilal Abidal should have been on instead. Lionel Andrés Messi Cuccittini is injured and shouldn't have been on - Francesc Fàbregas i Sole should have played instead. Pedro Eliezer Rodríguez Ledesma should have been replaced at half-time by David Villa Sánchez then instead of so late in the game ... and Gerard Piqué Bernabéu should never have got his head shaved - he looked and played like a headless chicken.

In saying that, I can't begrudge FC Bayern München their victory. They were superb, certainly up for this game after what happened to them in the final last year. They were the better side by far on this occasion. German football is certainly on the up - one of the main reasons why Josep "Pep" Guardiola i Sala has opted to go there.

PS: I'd advise caution against any 'men against boys' comparisons as I seem to recall that phrase being used by a certain Graeme James Souness once ... <whistle>

Abidal didn't put a foot wrong at the weekend. Quite incredible really.

Exactly Reb - a mystery to me why he wasn't in defence instead of young Marc Bartra Aregall - who also messed up badly when he should have scored.

Bavarian Munchers were immense and were set up perfectly to nullify a Barca team on the slide.

I'm not one for predictions but... The rise of the 4th Reich is upon us. If Eddie was correct way back in Julember when he tipped Prussian Dortmund for CL glory, ze Germans look set to dominate the continent's premier tournament for the forseeable future.

The German Government's clever and devious plan to weaken their competitors by creating a "single currency", doping/debting them up to the eyeballs, then force austerity on them thus severely weakening their economies and in turn, their soccer sides is almost complete.

Don't be surprised to see Messi at Munich in a season or two once Pep takes over.

    Likewise, Ronaldo et al.

Brilliant win for Bayern .. technical, tactical, powerful and entertaining.

A skelping was handed out ... as the saying goes PUMPED!

Hoping for a Bayern/Real final. Wouldn't mind an all German affair either.

    No Messi ... no Barca!

Far too reliant on him to put the finishes touch to their technical skill.

Bayern deserved their win but what exactly is the point of the extra officials behind the goals? What do they do?

I've seen so many CL and EL games this year where there have been handball incidents and very clear shirt pulling and pushing yet they just turn a blind eye to it.

Utter waste of time and money.

Bayern should have had two penalties but dont let that get in the way of your twisted "woe betide us" Celtic logic for ****s sake.

Your lot have been benefitting from decisions for ****in years.

Maybe the refs just happened to be ****e? Not everything is a conspiracy

They spend a lot of time (and money) trying to get the refs to be the best they can get. But they are human and there will be human error.

Happens week in week out in football.

Get on with it. Best team won, and scoreline reflected their superiority.

English may be my second language but I don't believe anything I've said could be construed as 'sour grapes'. On the contrary I would suggest that your comprehension skills would appear to be sadly lacking - read my post again and you should be able to comprehend that while I have given my take on the Barca side, I have also stated clearly that FC Bayern Munchen were by far the better side and by inference deserved their victory.

As an aside and for what it is worth, I've been regularly watching games in the Bundesliga and have been very impressed with it - it's exciting to watch. I could be wrong but I believe that the high energy, fast running, power game on general display in Germany (and as shown by FC Bayern Munchen last night) may very well be the next style to dominate ... although I would not write off Spanish football just yet.

I gathered as much but it was a very poor effort - now if you had come up with something actually witty that would have been different.

Is that meant to be a threat? <laugh>

Let's put it like this, as I'm sure you'll appreciate, just as when Celtic are beaten, I'm not exactly in the mood for stupid remarks ...

    <laugh> No, not at all...

Fair enough... to be fair, I was looking for a wee reaction <laugh>

So, do you think a new manager and some new players to freshen it up at Barca?

Well you certainly got one! <laugh>

I have a lot of sympathy with Francesc Vilanova i Bayó, with all that's he's had to go through and he's far from out of the woods yet. I certainly want to give him every chance and would love to be proved wrong but I'm not sure he is the man to take Barca on to the challenges that lie ahead. Time will tell on that front. We need at least two defenders - Carles Puyol i Saforcada is 35 and is picking up too many injuries too easily. We have some good young players to come through but need a couple more established and experienced for the higher level games.

Anyway, for tonight, come on Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund!
