It's a beautiful country, I've been round a lot but not central and not alpine either, wish I had. Hoping to nip into the Dordogne when we're there this summer but it won't be the kids idea of fun so I think that'll get vetoed!

Perhaps I'll get to sod off for a couple of days solo and sample some food and wines? Doubt it. Probably a lot further than it looks too.

Normandy is a good place to visit in Northern France. Lots of WWII history sites if that takes your fancy, and Mont St Michel is beautiful, although very touristy. The rest of Northern France is a bit boring imo - probably the area with the least tourist attractions.

Thanks Swarbs, yeah the gf mentioned Normandy and the WWII sites, should be interesting. <ok>

She's an architect and a bit of a history buff so I'll be getting a history education while I'm there, I enjoy finding out about the WWII history though so it's all good <cheers>

Britanny is really nice though, and that's north France.

It's a cliche, but it is similar in nature to Cornwall and Devon and equaly as twee so it's not a rocking destination by any means.
