10 game ban? Fair play to the FA for finally having some balls. Sadly, they'll still be inconsistent in the future, but this one time, right decision.
I think there's a limit on player wage suspensions, I don't think a club can suspend a players wage for more than two weeks. Not unless they suspend them completely for gross misconduct and they're not going to do that, as they obviously want him to stay.
IMO, Suarez should serve/miss the rest the/this season and then be forced to undergo therapy and subject to the reports the other 6 should be suspended or enforced. As Jamie Carragher has said in the media today, He would rather be bitten than have his leg broken. FFS, 10 games for what he did is a disgrace, imo.
Indeed. If Suarez had taken a massive chunk out of Ivanovic arm then fair enough. 10 games is OTT imo.
They can but they need special permission from the FA or the PFA or something or other. I remember another case recently where someone was fined beyond the 2 weeks mark, getting a 10 game ban for something as stupid and pathetic as biting someone is more than justified to get fined the duration of the ban. Suarez acting like a **** has now resulted in him missing an entire half season for Liverpool and his fine should also be represented in what half a season cost in relation to his transfer fee. Or Suarez should just be banned from FIFA competitions for life, fined everything he ever made from the sport and sent to live on the Gaza Strip, ungrateful, cheating, spiteful little ****
Like Gary Lineker said on Twitter: "Very strong punishment. Vital now that FA are consistently strong on all issues eg racism, abusing refs etc. Also this ridiculous, if the ref saw it they can't punish retrospectively nonsense, has to be addressed!" Don't have a lot of time for Lineker normally but he's spot on here.
i was sent off in a sunday league game for calling the ref a f*****g w****r (which he was) & got 56 days (& given that the season was 22 games thats a lot) & fined £10 (bloody lot in todays money) still rankles...

It's amazing that McManaman nor Aguero couldn't be punished. The FA seriously need to do a bit of tweaking in the rulebook.
I'd forgotten how many other players had received long bans(courtesy of @BroadcastMoose)... Eric Cantona - 9 month ban from football worldwide for that kung-fu kick on Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmons in 1995. Vinnie Jones - 6 months suspended for three years in Nov 92 -for his commentary in a video glorifying football violence and dirty tricks. Paolo Di Canio - 11 games for pushing over referee Paul Alcock Paul Davis - 9 matches and fined £3,000 after punching Southampton's Glenn Cockerill during a match in October 1988. Ben Thatcher for challenge Pedro Mendes - his club banned him for 6 games and the FA 8, with a 15 game ban suspended. Another interesting factoid - Suarez has now been banned for 25 matches at club level since november 2010...but has never received a straight red card.
Well the good news to come out of this is that Sturridge will not get to start some games. Steven Gerrard gives the FA the finger for the summer friendlies with ROI and Brazil away to get his shoulder fixed.
I assume you meant to say Sturridge will get to start some games, which I agree could be what he need to establish himself in the starting line up. I see Suarez got married in 2009, I bet his wife got some serious love bites.
