It's like the 2nd half of the play-off final stretched over a fortnight rather than 45 minutes. I'm feeling nervous almost constantly even when supposedly concentrating at work. I'd much rather Leicester just win on Friday to confirm it - forget all this winning on our own merit at Barnsley. I just want it done with. I did have a slightly surreal and vivid dream last night that George Boyd got injured at Barnsley, yet we still won 3-0.
From the way BCC's post was worded I thought we were talking about if we fail completely and stay down but yeah I didn't make that clear.
I don't understand the nervous thing too much. I'd get it if we were only 1 point ahead going into the Cardiff game, but it hasn't come that yet. I don't think we'll stuff up a 4 point gap so I am now just excited for, firstly, the Watford game on Friday and possible promotion and, secondly, the big one at Oakwell on Saturday. This weekend is made for enjoying as far as I can see, and I can't wait to get away from this desk to do it.
I tell you what is starting to worry me, the thought that we might lose out on an automatic spot by goal difference. It wouldn't be the first such experience for some of us - remember going to Burnley in the early 80's needing to win by 3 goals and only managing a 2-0 win, to end up losing out to the Blunts?
I'm not usually stressed by footy but this week, it's different. I'm so nervous - at my age I ought to know better. Hope NP gives a smiley interview after the match on Friday.
This - 100%. I really cant understand those hoping Watford dont lose 'cos it'll be a better celebration'. I just want to get promoted and I honestly dont think we will win on Saturday. Plus having 5500 City fans singing "one Nigel Pearson" would be mildly amusing.
Precisely, it's ****ing weird to want anything else. If Watford do win I'll admitedly then be ****ting myself come 3pm.
Relaxed and looking foward to the last days of this season. We have 3 chances at least.. Leicester beating watford Us beating Barnsley Us beating Cardiff. If i was a watford supporter / player i would be nervous.. they cant afford to slip up. May the best team get second spot.. As long as its Hull City.
I want this all to be over. ASAP. I'll be hoping Leicester win on Friday, otherwise, Saturday will be the nervous day I seem to be experiencing a lot of recently. I don't want it to go down to last game. The season is just that, a season of games, not just one or two, even if those are the ones that end up defining your season. If Leicester win on Friday and we're home safe regardless, it's not just down to that one game, its down to all the other ones before it too. Cmon you Foxes!
Don't know about anyone else, but here's my reasoning: What's the point in success in sport if you can't celebrate it? The whole three years we've spent back in this division has seemed like 90% of games have ended in disappointment, even though we've finished top half all three years. I can't wait to get promoted out of this division and it will make up for all the crap games we've seen, usually being thwarted to a 1-0 home loss by some shower of **** who do nothing but park the bus. If and when we finally do get out of this division I want to celebrate it, remember all those ****e games we've had to endure and give a big **** off to all those teams by going mental with the rest of the City fans and also the players at Barnsley. If we go up on Friday I'll still be delighted and it'll still be a nice atmosphere at Barnsley but there'll be no real moment of celebration with the players and fans. Chances are we'd lose if we've already got promoted by then and it'd just be a bit of an anti-climax despite an amazing season overall.
Completely agree with this and I'm not suggesting for a second it will be somehow undeserved if we go up without playing, that's stupid. All I'm saying is I want to be there when we get promoted and celebrate properly.
I don't want Leicester to win on Friday because I'm really looking forward to Saturday and its just wouldn't be the same or as fun if it was already done and dusted the night before and we'd all had a night to reflect on it. If Leicester - Watford was kick off at the same time as us then definitely ableicester win would be ace, but its not so ill take the excitement over the comfort. Isn't football all about excitement and entertainment? It may aswell be a pre season game if Leicester win, boring as ****.
Couldn't agree more ISPLT. If we go up on Friday then fair enough, that's job done, but I'd really love to go to Barnsley on Saturday needing a result and have that moment at the end of the game to really celebrate. If Watford lose on Friday and we don't need a result on Saturday, it would be like reaching the play-off final but being handed promotion without going to Wembley.
Im seriously not going to have any problems whatsoever celebrating if we get auto promotion. On Friday night at the pub, on Saturday at the KC, on the last day at the KC. When it happens is irrelevant to me, the important thing is achieving it. Getting it Friday night just means Friday night is Party Night then Saturday is driving to Oakwell with a MASSIVE smile on my face rather than not concentrating and worrying. Same for the last Saturday.
