For those in the US the game is being shown live on Friday at 245pm ( ET ) on Bein Sports. Can't find anything for Saturday's City v Barnsley game as yet.
No bars around me carry that channel. I called everywhere within an hour and a half drive. Ill be streaming it from one of the free sites myself.
Fairplay to you. Pretty much the equivalent of driving from Hull to Manchester to watch a game on TV. You or your family originally from Hull?
Well and hour and a half is only like 10 places to be honest as I live in the middle of no where. Na. I used to live in Europe when I was younger so I have been watching football most of my life. Back in like 06 I decided that I wanted to cheer for my own team rather than just watching watching whatever game was on TV. I had this vision for a club and city that I wanted to cheer for and I was telling a friend of mine about this vision. My buddy is from England and he said I was describing his team and the city he was from. So I signed up for Setanta which I dont think exists anymore and started watching the games.
Ha. Sounds great. Think Don Van Vliet lived somewhere remote in California too. Could you elaborate on the ‘vision’ – sounds intriguing. Or are you essentially saying you started supporting City because you’ve prefer the underdog and your friend supported City too?
I didnt want to support any of the top clubs. Its like all the americans who support the yankees because they are the best team. Nothing annoys me more than all the Americans you see with Man U kits on. I wanted to support a club that was in a lower league. I wanted it to be a club that that worked harder than they played beautifully. I didnt want to support a dirty club, but I waned them to be a tough club. I preferred a club that was on the rise as opposed to a club that was on its way down or one that was always going to be in the league they were in. I wanted them to not so much be an underdog but one that people would consider underdogs. Like I dont think we are underdogs, I think we are a quality team that the media over looks. We may have been the proverbial underdogs at one point, but I started watching as we were on the rise so to speak. Since english clubs are more expressions of the city they are found in as opposed to american sports teams and cities I wanted a certain city as well. I wanted the city to be working class and all that goes along with that, I did not want it to be major city, I preferred it to be in the north, I liked the idea of a port city, I wanted the fans to be die hard fans, I liked the idea of a club that used to have a hooligan element. There was more to the list but it was a long time ago. The choice was going to be a lifetime choice so it was important to get it right. My buddy just happened to support the the club and come from Hull. If he had been from Manchester I would not have become a Man U fan.
That's admirable. I will not be watching the game. It would be bad for my nerves. I shall be going to the movies instead. If anyone wants to keep me posted do so via Facebook or Twitter. It would be much appreciated.
Here it is live on Setanta from 0445 on Saturday morning. Will have an early breakfast as we watch. It will be a draw!
I'm going to have a shandy or two in pub to watch this one I think. If there's the chance we could go up Friday night, then I want to see it happen. Otherwise, Saturday it is.
