I don't hate you Dave, but I think there's a lot of truth in that thread. The way this board is managed is the reason i don't bother coming on to post or join in like I did regularly on 606. That said it's up to you mods to manage it however you see fit and if others don't like it they can choose to stay away.
Dave I think you do a bang up job and can confirm the aforementioned are "tuesdays" (Beefy excepted) Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Urgh, what a mess, but it's nice to see so much support. Dave, I for one do not hate you one iota - you make my life so much easier! Whenever we mod well, we all get the credit, and whenever we get blamed, it's always aimed at you -Maestro and I seem to get off scot free, it's perfect! On a more serious note, I think the rest of this thread shows nobody has any ill-feelings towards you, or if they do they're being very quiet about it. I think the ref analogy for mods is a very good one. It's impossible for us to keep everyone happy, as we're only human and will miss things, or see things differently. As there's 3 mods, I think it works well as between us we should arise at a consensus that most people agree with. The forum isn't just one person's dictatorship, and that's the way the three of us work. Sometimes one of us might have to step in quickly to diffuse something they feel is getting out of hand, but for anything else we'll discuss it between us and act as we all feel is appropriate. I'd like to feel as a moderation team we're fairly open to discuss things with people if they have concerns. I've had PM's from various users since my 'promotion' where they've felt something needs attention, and I'm sure Dave and Maestro do similarly. A lot of our moderation is done behind the scenes (ie, the PM's Beefy received from myself and Dave were never made public knowledge), so if we've taken a certain course of action I'll try and explain it to someone, or if they raise something new it gets passed on to Dave and Maestro. To me, that's how it should work, and I'd rather we didn't need to have a "naughty book" thread on here where every tiny PM and warning against everyone is detailed. I'm more than happy to explain things when asked, but don't see the need to publicly catalogue every action. I'd also like to put on record that I think any accusations of bias (seen on the ITFC board) are unfair. We all try and call it as we see it, and if that happens to mainly result with siding with a particular member(s), then that's neither here nor there. The effect of "Confirmation Bias" means people are more likely to spot things that reinforce their feelings that bias exist, and miss the occasions where a "favoured" poster has been rebuked. Although I accept it doesn't help when most of the time we choose to PM people we feel have overstepped the mark, rather than air our dirty laundry in public. Dave, don't go!
It never ceases to amaze me that grown men can argue over such trivial things and it comes to this. If you post on another team's board something that could be interpreted as inflammatory then you are running the risk of being banned, simple as.
I personally wouldn't have banned him because that kind of name calling reflects far worse on the person saying it than any kind of offence to myself. As to JWM its not like he's the brightest so I don't know why he tries to kick things off at times. He knew he was losing and couldn't handle it and so blew up. Its just being nasty. A word to you JWM if you are reading, you should only WUM if you're moderately clever and hold a competitive hand. I'm sure we'll hear from you in a weeks time JWM. See you next Tuesday.
I´m becoming more and more amazed at just how many people on here seem incapable of expressing themselves or their point of view, without resorting to obscenities, just because the majority of people seem to do it, doesn´t necessarily make it acceptable. I know it´s not a knitting circle we´re part of, but nevertheless, Dave was absolutely right to ban Warky, and as carrabuh has just said, it´s Warky himself who´ll be the only loser here, he´s certainly lost any credibility he ever had with me, that´s for sure.
I think this is the issue, on the Town board, if it is truly abusive or offensive it doesn't matter what colours you bear. If we can't post something inflammatory on an opponents' board what the devil are we going to post, aside from discussions about what's acceptable to post?
Typical 'non post', why bother? Fact is, Warky's 'What did I do?' post has drummed up the most interest on the binners' board for ages, which is quite sad for you guys.
You do a good job from your command centre Dave. Keep it up! I quite enjoy our visits from JWM and Welly etc even if their history dribbling can get a little tedious sometimes. I agree though, I think JWM did have a couple of sherberts before he started swearing like a drunk sailor who's lost his whore money.
No, I doubt it, it's onwards and upwards now. In fact, the opposite to you guys. That mega thread you talked about, by the way, I laughed when I saw it was an off-topic thread about Lady Thatcher, made me
I have been away for a few days and it has been a busy on here and a lot has happened. I have read the posts concerned and JWM gave Dave no choice but to ban him. It was a tirade of foul mouthed abuse. I have noticed that some posters resort to this behaviour when they cannot develop a debate. If you don't deal with this sort of post then the whole board will soon be dragged down into the gutter and decent forum users wont bother with it.
Not read everyone else's replies. No I don't hate you, from my comfy seat looks like you are doing a good job! Thanks!
