Ian Ayre of Liverpool FC said that in relation to Suarez: "We've taken action to fine Luis for his actions." Now Utd as far as I recall when Eric Cantona kicked the Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmons back in 1995, they banned Eric for four months though the FA decided to double the ban to eight.

While the Cantona incident was more serious imo, given the history of Suarez, are Liverpool scared of upsetting the only effective player they have?

To be honest he could decapitate someone and the Liverpool board would shut up shop and say it's being dealt with, sometimes you just want the hierarchy to say "Hey this is wrong, you can't do this **** anymore, stop his wages, ban him( like we did Cantona), and make him do a public apology, it's GBH and this can't go on, Cantona was vital to us but we still acted, sometimes you just wonder what price a club has on dignity, obviously about £300,000!

IMO shows the desperation of Liverpool. Urgently need this one player to stay on board or otherwise they're screwed.

Personally I still think the Cantona one was a watershed for clubs' internal discipline. Had we not done anything, the FA would probably have banned him for a couple of months. But as soon as we slapped a four month ban on him the FA immediately felt the need to show it was in charge by doubling the ban to eight.

After that, clubs never impose their own bans cos they know the FA will always try a bit of oneupmanship. Instead they defend the indefensible in the hope of getting as short a ban from the FA as possible, which usually works. Then everyone wonders why the clubs never impose serious discipline on their own players any more.

The scousers are biding their time. I think the way Suarez behaved was so disgusting that it is essential that the FA gives a clear message. Already some kids in the nursery have copied him. Much worse than Cantona !

I cannot believe some (not all) ******ed scousers fans are trying to defend the indefensible. I hope that he stays so that the miserable scousers will be associated with a lowlife scumbag fr a very long time. And he gets at least 8 months...<ok>

"Luis Suarez has accepted a charge of violent conduct following an incident with Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic in Sunday’s fixture at Anfield.

However, Suarez has denied The FA’s claim that the standard punishment of three matches is clearly insufficient for this offence.

The incident was not seen by the match officials and has therefore been retrospectively reviewed – click here for a video explanation of ‘not seen incidents’.

An Independent Regulatory Commission will hear the case tomorrow, Wednesday 24 April."

Does this guy not know when to take his medicine?

Liverpool probably advised him not to. Like I said, after the Cantona ban clubs know there is no margin in accepting bans or banning their own players. If you accept it the FA will just push the ban higher, and if you fight it they will probably give in and set a lower ban.

    Pretty messed up system imo.

Don't know. I thought previously he would be banned for 6 matches, now with him starting to seemingly disagree with the FA, I suspect he could be banned for even more.

    Who knows?

So Suarez is given a 10 game ban, fined approximately £300,000 by his club, how the hell does that happen 2 games more than his Racist outburst, so 6 games missing at the start of nxt season that's them in another mid table battle, that's if he stays even!

He's not starting with a clean slate though is he? It's not a like for like comparison , he's a persistent offender and so the idea is they raise the ban the more he keeps doing this **** until the penny drops.

It'll never drop with him though, clearly.
