Oddy, I hope so. Plus I really hope they get a new jockey after Friday. Old boy Ponsonby has horses with Sir Henry though so he may, unfortunately, remain ultra keen on the Queally tie in. Here’s a question for the regular readers by the way re Royal Ascot and Mr Henderson. Our favourite trainer has trained 2 winners at the meeting but which jockey rode them both???
morning all- more mundane matters at towecester-but a winner is a winner-- in the 6 30 Queen of mantua--who had no luck last time--t murphy does the steering-- and in the 7 00 course specialist Irish Guard at 8/1 is great value-- dropping back to 2 m 3f he will take some catching.....
Happy St. Georges Day to all today...!!! Although there are not a lot of dragons around today, it dos seem a shame that we can not have a day of celebration for that brave man who did indeed 'Slay the Dragon'. It seems, after a bit of reading on the subject, that a lot of other countries celebrate this patron saint of the past. Spain, Syria, Hungary, Canada and the Czech's all have a day of celebration and a holiday to celebrate his wonderful and brave actions... The only Saint that makes an appearance today other than George is Saint Gervais in the 4.55 at Punchestown. Apparently this 8 year old has a habit of doing well around this time of the year, as he would being a Saint, and i think he might have the conditions to suit him today. Twice winning at today's distance of 2 miles, plus also winning on this day last year at Cork following a win at Clonmel before that. So i shall put forth his name as a potential e/w call of the Handicap Hurdle race later today... Saint Gervais @ Punchestown, 4-55... 25/1 e/w...
Same to you Red and everyone else. I had a great SGD in the Audley and Punchbowl in London a couple of years ago...they really made an effort...today should be a bank holiday imo.
Morning all. No time for write ups but two for me at Punchestown . CHAMPAGNE FEVER (6/4) & BOSTON BOB (4/1) - sure you all know about these two anyways Nothing appeals elsewhere. Good luck
Harry Topper has been backed so Boston Bob is out to 4's. I've taken that bog e/w in the hope he drifts a little more.
I'm suprised Ruby has gone against BB again today, had he chosen him BB would probably be 9/4. Ruby has been known to get it wrong more often than not in these close calls, so hopefully he's got it wrong again today
I think it could be because Townend gave Bob such a clever ride at Cheltenham bar the last fence. Willie apparently made the decision and it wouldn't surprise me if he thinks Paul deserves the chance to get that win on board Bob who is definitely the best horse in the race IMHO.
Back In Focus (Ruby) might have the edge over Boston Bob (Paul) in the Champion Novice Chase but it would not surprise us if it was the other way round. We were hoping to keep them apart but they both deserve a chance at this Grade 1. Back In Focus will love this ground but Boston Bob might prefer drier conditions off willies web, clear as mud
Just leaving for Punchestown here now, good weather and good day of racing in store and hopefully the wallet will be A little heavier on the way home!
Top post red and happy st georges day to you! just to add spice ricky gervais was adding his views on why we should celebrate this day so on that basis perhaps a good thing and a topical bet??
I don't buy into Bob not loving soft ground. His best run was as a hurdler on slop carrying a penalty.
Just to post what my picks are for Punchestown before i nip out now for a little while... 3.40 - Keep On Track, 6/1 4.20 - Champagne Fever, 6/4 4.55 - Saint Gervais, 25/1 5.30 - Sprinter Scare 6.05 - Moyle Park, 15/8 6.40 - Back In Focus, 7/2 7.15 - Draco, 16/1 Good luck to all today if your playing, watching or even going to Punchestown today... Have a great one...
