Well it does seem like the shareholders have a lot of say in pre-season. I really hope this is done as an early team building exercise and then they come back to play some tough matches on bobbly pitches against lower league sides to hone their ball control and stamina. This year's fiasco has a lot to do with that first game and the build up to it. That is not all Hughes' fault... :0/
Still talking bollox DT. The Championship is no place for PL has-beens who are goners. If we keep all ours we'll be heading for League One...
For all the Park bashers, some interesting figures: - He's in 2nd place with 3 assists this season with Mbia, only Taarabt has more (4), but Park has played half the games Mbia/Tarbs has. - His pass success is 3rd best in the squad (83,9%), only behind Kieron Dyer !!!! (89,4%) and Samba Diakite !!! (87,4%). - His tackles per game is 2,7. 3rd in current squad behind Townsend (3,1) and Mbia (2,8) (that includes games where he came on as sub, like 0min against Celsea, 1min against ManC, 8min against West Ham, which brings his tackles/game down considerably). For the most part, he has done good this season when he's been on the field, but his work just is the type that people don't notice that much. Definately would keep him next season if he still is interested in the project.
I could have pass success rate like Park if I was to just give the ball to the nearest player to me everytime in a panic I prefer to watch rather than go with statistics
So no matter how many assists, how many tackles, how good a passer one is and doesn't make stupid mistakes, if he doesn't look good on the pitch, he's crap? I've seen every game this season (although some of them through some very shaky streams) but really can't remember many times seeing Park panicing. Make the simple pass and you don't lose the ball and give opponent a chance to score. Maybe that's something that some of the other squad members should learn to do too instead of running head down into opposition wall/dead end or try some miracle pass and hit the first adversary. If you look at his minutes played, it makes about 13 full games. 3 assists in 13 games is not bad for a box to box midfielder, whose main task on the field is to break up opponents game. That just shows that he knows when to make the passes that count on the score board better than most of the squad. 48 tackles in 13 games would make him the best tackler in the current squad. He also is one of the most hard working players every time he's on the field, just doesn't give up chasing and harrassing the opposition. Something most others could take notice to, and commit themselves to do the same. It's OK to judge a performance by what you see on the field, but sometimes prejudice can cloud your judgement. If you are only watching a player waiting for him to fail, not even trying to notice all the good things he does, you are certain to see him in a bad light. That's when stats can show that not everything the player does is crap.
But the trip is offset by the money coming in, do you really think wed be better off financially playing tier 10 teams in Devon? Besides, the deserve to be sent to a probable war zone.
Also, weve won 4 drawn 4 and lost 3 or 4 when Park starts. Now that might not be great on its own but it tells you a lot with the season weve had. Also Barca usually pass to the nearest person to them and they dont seem to do to badly.
tells me a bit when Park is left out in preference to Derry, maybe Barca want Park to replace Xavi or Iniesta
Park was only left out because Stoke were a side that likes to kick others off the park, but they were remarkably well behaved. Id have played Derry too as it was very sensible. However id play Park against every other team besides maybe WHU.
Yeh, spot on.All those Korean tourists were in fact heavily diguised Barca scouts sent flooding to LR to check out the hot tip for Xavi's successor.
Very worrying to hear that Tony Fernandes etc are still trying to break us into the Asian market. Their attempts at globalising the Rangers have contributed to the abject failure that is this season. I can't see us doing very well in the Championship, whatever TF's intentions.
We would have made more staying in the PL. Spanking a bunch of Mickey Mouse Korean teams 10-nil is hardly worth the jet fuel. Oh yeah, I forgot, we'll get twenty or so Korean supporters coming to the Loft to shriek at Park. We need to get our priorities straight: the 'global brand' can wait.
That makes no sense to me, we shouldn't try to make any money because we lost out on the PL? The k league teams are a far higher standard than the teams we faced in our promotion year. We make more money and play a better standard of side yet you'd want to play team like Truro in front of one man and his dog.
i think the big ones, ManU/Arse/L'pool/ManC (maybe not all of them, can't remember...) toured also in far east last summer, didn't hurt them too much... (well, maybe ManC lost the title cause of it?)
As long as the trip is finished with long enough before the season starts that it causes no acclimatisation type problems, I can't see what the problem is. If the Club makes money by training in Korea why not? It's the standard of training the players do that matters most, not where they do it. Probably there will be good teams out training in that area of the world, with whom games or tourmnaments can be set up.
Firstly, where did I say anything about playing Truro? How many Championship teams, which is, effectively, what we currently are, are global teams with an overseas following? If you look into it, it's only really Man Utd, Barca and Real that are capable of generating revenue streams from overseas. You keep going on about all the money that this trip will allegedly bring in, but from where? Perhaps from the massive gates that QPR will draw in Southeast Asia, or perhaps not. And how will these new found supporters follow their cherished R's once we leave for the UK again? Oh, that's right, they can't because the Championship is not broadcast around the world like the PL. Last pre-season, we were in southeast Asia trying to cultivate support for the R's in a market supposedly bursting with excitement over the PL. But let's be realistic here, no-one wants to buy tainted goods, and that's what we currently are. If a handfull of Korean or other person from abroad starts following the Rangers after this then very good, but I'm struggling to see the vast amounts of money rolling into the club you seem to be enivisioning.
Take your point, but the Championship is I think broadcast round the World. It is here in Norway anyway without all the hype around the PL.
