The Professional Footballers Association (PFA) have announced their nominations for 2012-13 Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

    They are as follows:

For Player of the Year, the nominees are:

    ■Gareth Bale
    ■Juan Mata
    ■Michael Carrick
    ■Eden Hazard
    ■Luis Suarez
    ■Robin van Persie

The nominations for 2012-13 PFA Young Player of the Year are:

    ■Gareth Bale
    ■Christian Benteke
    ■Eden Hazard
    ■Danny Welbeck
    ■Romelu Lukaku
    ■Jack Wilshere

Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard are nominated in both categories.

The highly prestigious awards competition is voted on by each member of the Professional Footballers Association. In the 2011-12 awards, Robin van Persie won Player of the Year, while Kyle Walker was recognized as Young Player of the Year. Gareth Bale won the Player of the Year award in 2010-11.

The winners of this year’s Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year should be announced in the next few days.

After his assist and goal against Chelsea Suarez is nailed on to win the award.

Thought the voting was done before the game or something?

Probably going to be Bale and Wilshere.

Not going by what I think but what will probably happen. The way they ooze over bale and Wilshere....... just made for them this year I think ( unfortunately).

Without being biased, if Bale were to win it, then at least you could see a reason for it, but Wilshere? He's only played 5 games this season hasn't he?

This pretty much. Just saying you can see it happening the way this year Wilshere somehow has become this massive player after being injured for 3/4 of the season. Bale you can see but of course you will say Bale and we will say Suarez.

I think Mata has been incredibly underrated in all of this. He has what 19 goals and some like 23 assists or something? Unreal. Glad we bought Downing instead of him.

He has fought tooth and nail for us all season. Certainly gives our attack the bite it was lacking in earlier years. The award is so close I'm sure he can taste it.

I'd like to think Suarez will win because this season he has been the best player in the league, it's as simple as that.

However a lot of players despise him (even before bite-gate) and the media is desperate for Bale to win and so on that note I've voted Bale.

I don't get the fuss about Hazard. Yes good player - but anywhere near the best of the year? No chance.

    My nominess would be:

    - Suarez
    - Bale
    - Matta
    - RVP
    - Zableta
    - Carrick at a push.

Nobody else has really smashed it.

I think I would also have Cazorla in or Kompany possibly over Hazard. Think that is a strange one.

What you trying to say!! <grr>

    lol nothing of course!

Kompany has been poor this year imo. Santi has been good but not brilliant consitantly.

Still think both have been better than hazard who started well then just disappeared. He won't win it anyway.

Just can't get my head why Shelvey and Downin aren't on it though if I am honest. <ok>
