TBH Thai I was really refering to what you might call 'general abuse' and 'wumming'. I certainly do not condone calling anyone a c*nt on here as that really is overstepping the mark. I hope that's cleared that one up
I've not seen much worse and certainly I was banned permanently from the QPR board with no warning or explanation. I certainly did not swear. I'm by no means lily white when it comes to swearing, but I don't get wound up on another team's board. JWM's outburst was not a joke, it was pathetic reaction to having wound himself up by coming onto this board. If he comes over here, he should learn to take it. I think a week's ban is, given the amount of wumming he does on here, if anything lenient. It's basically like sending him out of the class room to cool down.
I have to say that the paste above is not "banter" and I can't argue with your decision to impose a weeks ban, as i said above when I had a bit more information. I am surprised that JWM did resort to this as I have read a lot of his contributions and they are normally pretty reasonable and often humerous but I am not here to apologise for his tirade as he is big enough to do that himself. I think that Cromer makes a good point. It is a Norwich board and guests should behave accordingly. Sadly Thai also is correct as I think that as long as we have an open board we will have people abuse. All I can suggest is that we keep our own house in order as best we can whilst retaining the entertaining nature of the forum.
I take your point about JWM's previous posts and I did say to him in the PM regarding his ban that I was disappointed at his outburst as I thought he was better than that. Normally with him it is give and take, but that was a step too far!
Personally my feeling about JWM is this: He can say what he likes and I won't be offended.However,last week he outed himself as a Thatcherite.Burning in hell is too good for JWM IMHO.
No Dave you are not hated, we've had disagreements in the past but you do a good job as a mod. JWM is an absolute cock smoker most of the time, but I thought his outburst the other night was very desperate and it wouldn't surprise me if he was intoxicated, it was very embarrassing. I quite enjoy the debates and variety of opinions on here. Some people need to chill out a bit and stop being immature. Also I tolerate other fans on here including the binners quite like a bit of banter sometimes it gets a bit silly.
Yep, i'm with everyone else, fully derserved for that out-burst. nothing more to add dave. same would apply on their board, i'm sure KOPR and the other mods would do the same banter is fine, and it is that most of the time, cheers welly, guru, KOPR and jwm and N.B, it's been MUCH better on here recently, no agro between the NCFC fans. enjoyable
Yep, completely agree. I think the principal problem was that we had got to a stage where people were being abused for simply holding a view (and that's not to say I wasn't guilty). Fortunately, we've all relaxed and now we are discussing the reasons for differing views, which is much less contentious and far more interesting - as you say, enjoyable. The problem with JWM is that he wound himself up and became abusive, which puts people off.
Mods need eyes in the back of their heads, Dave! Seriously, I'll join the others in praising you, Maestro and DH for the work you do on here. The title says it all, moderating extremes so that meaningful discussions can take place. As soon as argument descends into swearing and abuse, meaning has been left behind. I can understand the frustration down at Ipswich, but that is no excuse for abuse. I'm surprised at JWM, as he is usually good for banter, but that post was definite cause for exclusion. Even before that, Dave, your previous intervention helped us all get Not606 back to meaningful discussion of City and football issues, rather than slanging off each other. Threads since then have been much better for that, so thanks from me to all three of you for the excellent job you do.
You have had quite a bit of flak on here Dave over things that were not your fault. As a mod you sometimes have to make decisions which one side of the dispute won't like. Many of the disputes you have had to sort out were childish and should have been sorted out between themselves without involving you and in those circumstances you have done a very good job. I remember the mods on the old 606 - say no more!! I am also behind you - you know what they say ' if you can't get a nice young lady get a clean old man '
Dave, the only reason I have any negative feelings towards is pure jealousy of the copious amounts of top class single malt you have in your house.
I have said before that Dave, as well as the other lads, moderates this forum on our behalf. He makes the rules and he enforces them. I should imagine we have all had a good cuss on here. But we can. Its the NCFC board. I have never and will never go on any other club board because I'm not interested in any other club. But if anyone comes on our board trying to, let's say, liven it up, and they get bullied then that serves them right. To be obviously shaken by a succession of us posters having a go is JWM's own fault. He let rip and Dave has decided he gets punished. That's the end of it. If JWM doesn't like it then tough. I quite like the Toryboy coming on here at times because I think he is similar to us in many respects. But if I never hear from him again, I can live with that. Dave, everybody on here backs you 100%. Whatever the outcome is the way it is going to be.
